This most beautiful yacht is the Spirit 50CR, just launched in time for the Southampton
Boat Show 2019 by Spirit Yachts, based in Ipswich in the UK, and famed for their modern
styled traditional yachts.
Jumping on board, this yacht has a Hossbars carbon mast and boom, furling Genoa, and you
really can't help but admire the most beautiful bright work and wood decks.
Not in teak, but in fact in a substance called Lignia, which is made in the UK from a soft
wood infused with resin, then heat and pressure treated.
Spirit Yachts have vast experience in wood and say that it is harder than teak to work
and could last longer, certainly more sustainable.
You see all the lines here laid back to the cockpit under the spray hood, and some really
fine details including the Spirit Yachts logo laid into the cockpit sole here.
This is a 42 inch wheel and all the really nice woodworking details carry right down
below.
A very traditional layout to this boat, you can see the galley and a small seating area
to starboard, and on the port side there is a U-shaped saloon seating area and table.
Some of the nice details include some polished stainless steel portholes that can open for
ventilation and on the deck head, flush fitting hatches.
Moving forward into the owners cabin, again some really beautiful joinery details here.
One of the things that Spirit Yachts is rightly proud of is the construction of the hull itself
which you can see here lit up with epoxy construction.
Nice en-suite heads to the owners cabin, and then back again through the saloon where you
get another view of the galley and the berths, quarter berths on the starboard side and a
double on the port side.
One of the things I really like about this boat is that it is traditional on the outside
and on the inside and that includes a navigation station in the old fashioned sense, a place
to put your paper charts, your electronics.
Also worth noticing is just how secure these would be as sea berths.
This is built for comfort offshore.
A few final details then from the port out cabin, very nice chest of drawers here and
a small wardrobe with a porthole for ventilation above it.
