About the Video:
Live Performance recording made at the Chapel of the Venerable Bede, in Coral Gables, Fl. Laura MazonFranqui, an internationally awarded Cuban guitarist( New Orleans International Festival and Competition, Rising Stars Competitions University of Rhode Island Guitar Festival) performs Prelude no. 2, by the Brazilian composer Heitor Villalobos. This classical guitar piece, which constitutes one of the masterpieces for the instrument, is subtitled "Melodia Capadocica), is in the key of E major, and is the second of the Five Preludes, written in 1940.
The subtitle refers to the capadócio, also called malandro carioca: a rascally character of the Rio de Janeiro Carnival.
It was first performed, together with its four companions, by Abel Carlevaro in Montevideo on 11 December 1942.
