Laura Mazon Franqui, an internationally awarded Cuban guitarist( New Orleans International Festival and Competition, Rising Stars Competitions University of Rhode Island Guitar Festival) performs Danza del Altiplano, by the Cuban composer Leo Brouwer. This classical guitar piece, written in 1962, is part of the Latin American period of the composer. Inspired by the melodies of the Altiplano(region of The Andes, in South America), it explores the different colors, tones and extended techniques of the XX century classical guitar(Pizzicato Bartok, Tambora, Rasguados/strummings, and Harmonics).
