In a world still marked by conflict and division, we offer this piece as a quiet prayer—for peace, for understanding, for healing. Our arrangement of Stanley Myers’ “Cavatina”, originally composed for The Deer Hunter, holds a message that feels as urgent today as it did decades ago. The film, a haunting reflection on the human cost of war, gave us this melody as a moment of stillness—an echo of what is lost, and a longing for what might be restored.

We are Rouge Duo—Siobhan Cronin on violin and Laura Mazon Franqui on guitar—two musicians brought together by a shared vision: to create music that speaks not only to the ear, but to the soul. With roots in classical tradition and hearts open to sonic exploration, we strive to reimagine what violin and guitar can express together. In this arrangement, we sought to preserve the tenderness of Myers’ original while weaving in our own voice—one shaped by emotion, empathy, and the desire to connect across boundaries.

Each performance for us is more than just notes on a page. It is part of our mission to amplify the voices of women in music, to tell stories that matter, and to offer moments of beauty in uncertain times. “Cavatina” is one such moment—a reminder that even in silence, there can be meaning.
