What's up guys and welcome back to the channel. If you're new to our channel for 2024 my name
is Kyle and I'm Hayley and in today's video we've come arguably the furthest north
we've ever been in the Peak District. We've come to check out Langset Reservoir.
So today then we've made the journey north. It took us around about an hour or so actually to
get up here. It's the furthest north we've been in the Peak District. We're right on the top edge
boundary of the National Park and this is a little place that's been on the list for a while.
We've had like a little printed off map that Hayley printed off for us just sat on the fridge
for ages and we've cancelled a few times. Yeah we're going to do this a few times. I don't know
about you guys but I really enjoy looking at Google and particularly satellite view and one
day I was just like having a gander to see what what there is of like the north of the Peak
District because we barely come up here and I saw this little reservoir typed into Google
Langset Reservoir Walks and this one popped up. So we're here we're dragging you guys along with us.
So we figured it was high time that we got back out to film another video for the channel.
It has been a while we're now both in a much better place than we were in the last video
that we filmed health and fitness wise anyway and we've picked Langset Reservoir for a couple
reasons really. The route that we've got mapped out today is really very short I think it's only
about 5k or about it rounds off to about three miles or so. Nice little circuit it's going to
take us around the reservoir and also there's a nice varied terrain that we're going to be
walking through like right now we're in some really nice woodland really very nice actually
and then a little bit later on we should take in some views from the water's edge
and there's even a little section of moorland which I'm looking forward to as well so
if that sounds like fun strap your walking boots on and let's get into it.
You are a cat, you are a cat.
Thank you so nice
Put down below in the comments if you want to see me eat a dog biscuit on the internet
So before we get too far into this walk figured it's probably high time
for a long overdue update from the now heavily pregnant queen of the car parks
So there's a couple car parks that you can choose from there's Langset Barn which we've parked in
it's free they've got toilets and there's like a little pub that's close by I've been told they've
amazing pies so I don't know if that's something we might have to try out but anyway there is
another one it's called Langset Flouch I don't know if it's free you'd have to check we'll
probably let you know leave a little something but yeah get here early because we almost didn't
get a spot so very popular little spot this especially on a Sunday we didn't really get
out of bed too early this morning getting bad at that but yeah there's at least two
car parking options there for you if you're looking to visit
Got a fair bit of rain over the past couple of weeks out here in the peat district
which has meant some of those sections a little bit more technical than usual obviously Hayley's
carrying very precious cargo at the moment we're kind of second guessing all of our steps that we
take there's definitely some slippery muddy bits but by large the rest of the route is actually okay
and the path's fairly straightforward all the way around the reservoir so
you know if you've got reduced mobility or maybe you're pregnant this might be a good option for you
right so we've come out of the woodland section and we're into open land now and it's the moorland
section of the walk and we're heading into a part that's on the map and that's called
North America so we're going to be walking to North America
we're just saying it's probably one of the busiest walks that we've been on to date yeah
it's situated between Manchester Sheffield and Leeds so obviously you've got three
major cities so it's probably going to be a bit busier than yeah there's a lot of people
we didn't do ourselves any favours the time we came here though did we we're sort of filming
this now midday lunchtime ish so there's a fair few people about but it's not hard to see why
it's a pretty nice little spot
well gang we made it to North America how about that we didn't even get on a plane
obviously not North America be nice to go there we've never been have we
maybe one day we made it to North America Farm which is an old abandoned farm up here
we believe it was abandoned because when they made the reservoir they didn't want
things leaking down from the farm and basically making the water impure there was a bit of a
contamination risk yeah um so they wanted to keep the water as pure as possible so it's kind of the
job of a reservoir so they i assume they paid off the farmers to maybe to move out but we don't know
that but what we do know is that this farm was used as target practice in world war ii as well
and apparently you can still see some of the divots in the rock where the the shelves basically
came out of the sky and bombed the farm there's really not a great deal of it left um it's just
ruins isn't it yeah it's kind of uh it's quite nice it's a nice little bit to sort of have a hike
out to yeah it's nice to kind of see a little something with the scenery so a bit of history
yeah there you go we went to north america on the channel
well we finally made it up and onto the moors which is the bit that i was looking forward to
the most properly opens up here yeah you got some really nice views of the reservoir up here so it's
just been a nice little treat to forward to couldn't really see too much from down at the
reservoir level but getting up here on the moors you get a really nice view and actually if that
farm was still alive you probably get some pretty decent views if you live there yeah we figured
while we're up here we'll drop some facts yeah so the reservoir was built in 1898 and they finished
building it in 1904 yeah so it took a few years to put together it's a pretty big pretty big
reservoir i think it's i think it's 125 acres in size and then it's about 97 feet deep so 100
foot deep that's pretty big yeah and i think it supplies obviously a lot of water to the surrounding
area so yeah it's no it's no small reservoir you do get some really nice views from up here but
we're going to carry on now um head up onto the top by the looks of things it goes up a little
bit more and then we're going to drop down into some more woodland by the looks of things
see what we see come on then
where's mummy gone where's she gone hey where is she she's coming yeah
she's pregnant so she's a bit slower in the moment she's coming then there she is there she is
this has felt like a long three miles don't you think yeah it was really i don't know if it's
because we've not filmed for a while or what uh it seems to have taken a lot longer than
but we did six miles like the other weekend yeah we we went out to uh sort of frogger edge
kerber big moor that area that was a new walk for us we've never really done that before it was
really nice i tried to keep an eye out for the deer didn't see any it was a nice walk either
way wasn't it really nice six miles for us was was pretty good yeah it seemed like that was way
quicker than what this one has turned out to be so but it's been nice all the same yeah we're now
very much on sort of the last straight now of this as you can see we've dipped back into the
woodland again um we're basically going to follow the reservoir now all the way down back i think
to the car park so yeah last bit been really nice though yeah i've enjoyed it
are you uh going to give the people um a pregnancy update
um so what's what then i'm i'm 32 weeks today um it's been fine i did six miles the other week
yeah keeping fit and healthy yeah no problems everything's going well she's she's growing well
oh no can we just give it away just like the cat out the back
we're having a girl
yeah we didn't plan on doing a gender reveal did we no certainly didn't plan on revealing it right
now but um yeah thank you for all those that guessed we are having a little girl um which
is what we both wanted yeah actually and we're really looking forward to it just want to say as
who just left really positive and supporting comments um in the last video really made our
day and they just kept coming in as well for several days after that as well um so if that's
you watching at home thank you for just leaving some really nice comments on the on this little
one here which is um she's growing yeah get in there so yeah a couple more months um yeah
and then she'll be out and all four of us will be out in the open
look at him he's ready to go home
right we're off back to the car park
right gang i think we're going to leave you there for today um just a little one
today it's um something we've had on average for probably a month or more yeah and we just
fancied bringing you guys along see a brand new spot for the channel and it's been it's been fun
yeah it's been uh it's been nice because there's like uh been a whole different range of scenery
for us and it's kept things interesting so we hope you guys have enjoyed that as well
um yeah if you enjoyed this video please give us a big thumbs up and if you like the look about
slightly slowly tiring faces do consider joining the gang there is more videos coming hit the
subscribe button just down there it's completely free to do really helps us out and uh yeah until
then we'll see you in the next one bye peace
