Ecology-Based Curriculum, Tatanen di Bale Atikan in Purwakarta Indonesia
Tatanén di Balé Atikan is a character education movement aimed at fostering ecological awareness in caring for and learning from nature. This program integrates learning based on Pancaniti and agricultural management principles of permaculture, enabling students to develop in harmony with their natural environment, personal growth, and the times.
Etymologically, "Tatanén di Balé Atikan" comes from the Sundanese language: "tatanén" means farming or cultivating, "balé" means a hall or spacious place, and "atikan" means education. Thus, this program utilizes the school environment as a learning space that emphasizes hands-on farming practices and sustainable environmental management.
The implementation of this program involves all school members and education stakeholders in Purwakarta Regency, focusing on four main aspects: intellectual development, emotional growth, sensory awareness, and physical activity. Through this approach, it is hoped that awareness of maintaining, preserving, and improving environmental sustainability and beauty can be enhanced.
