Brittiska parlamentet omringat av traktorer i skatteprotest | NTD NYHETER

I wish I could stand on a tractor to see how many there are here. We're near Downing Street, the government building here in London. And all the way from Parliament to Trafalgar Square on the other side. The street is full of tractors. You might wonder. For grasshoppers are here to stand up to news that the government is looking for them. So many tractors at the glitter as Christmas lights. This is the second major protest by farmers in Britain. Land properties are currently exempt from all taxes. But the British government announced in October plans to introduce a tax of 20 percent. A mark that's worth over a million pounds, or about 1.3 million dollars. It will start from April 2026. Demonstrators say that changing the rules will destroy the family's family history. We're here to save my family's farm. If everything goes well, my family is also quite old. We won't have time to leave it to my brother. My brother actually helped my family pay for the farm. We've worked all our lives, we've worked on farms. And we want something for the future. Lantbrukare says they're rich on assets, men poor on money. A high inheritance tax can mean the end of farming families for several generations. Another farmer said he's not there because of the command tax. For him, it's more than just that. For the last, God knows how many years, it's been getting harder and harder for us to travel. We'll produce all the food. Without us, everything will be much more expensive, because it comes from another country. Men don't seem to understand. Year after year we get more places, more renters. And it's getting harder and harder to get money. Howard Cox, founder of Fairfuel UK, says he's been successful in his fight to freeze fuel taxes. And that they've now been asked by farmers to support their campaign as well. It's farmers who have had a horrible, horrible taxation for their future livelihoods, especially better farmers. If you look at this today, it's very quiet. France has taken up road, fuel, and done everything possible. We're pretty far back, though. But I don't think they'll take it too easy now, because it's going to be a little challenging. Malcolm Hudson, NTD News, from London.
