[Gemma]: Hi Bold Bakers! Today is a truly crazy episode for two reasons, number one
we’re doing another installment of our crazy series and we're going to make crazy edible
cookie dough. Number two I have Josh and Ange from Baking With Josh and Ange. [Ange]: We’re
in the kitchen with Gemma! Oh my god! [Gemma]: So, you might recognize these guys, a lot
of you don't know this, but I am a serious, would you say Office-phile? Is that a thing?
[Ange]: I don't know! [Gemma]: But I watch The Office like nobody’s business. Religiously,
every night, for probably about three hours or so. [Ange]: What?! That is a serious Office
fan! [Gemma]: You know when you watch Netflix and says, “Continue to watch” because
it thinks you've fallen asleep? That'll happen to me around two or three times and I'm still
watching. So I did a collaboration over on Baking With Josh and Ange, and it was a lot
of fun, and we also did some Office trivia, so head over there, check that out, subscribe
to Baking With Josh and Ange, because I know you're going to love it, and check out the
sugar cookie pizzas that we made. So let’s make our cookie dough! So we’re going to
start out in a large bowl. Josh, if you wouldn't mind adding in the room temperature butter,
the white sugar, and the brown sugar. And then mix them really well together. So what
makes this an edible cookie dough is that there is no eggs in it. [Ange]: Makes sense!
[Gemma]: The more you know. [Ange]: The more you know! [All laugh] [Ange]: He’s a good
mixer. [Josh]: I am! [Gemma]: You know what? It’s not the first time you've done this.
[Josh]: No, no, no, I got it! [Ange]: I get tired. [Gemma]: So this is looking perfect
josh, good job. [Josh]: Thank you! [Gemma]: Now Ange, this is where you come in. [Ange]:
Yay! [Gemma]: Into this mix I'm going to get you to add in some flour, vanilla extract,
some salt, and milk. And then I want you to mix this all together. So a little bit of
a note about the flour you want to use when you're doing edible cookie dough, pop it into
the oven at 350º Fahrenheit and cook it for around five minutes and you just want to have
the flour heat-treated, you can also pop it into the microwave for a minute and that’ll
do the same job. [Josh]: Perfect. [Gemma]: Aren’t you glad you came here Angela? Ange,
you're a pro, this is looking great. [Laughter] [Ange]: Thanks, thanks, I don't quite have
the upper-body strength of the hubby, can I try some? [Gemma]: Yeah, you can try some.
Josh get in there and try some. [Ange]: Oh my gosh, yummy. [Josh]: Mm! [Ange]: That’s
really good! [Josh]: We’re done! [Gemma]: Isn’t that nice? That’s it. Okay, see
you later! Thanks for watching. [Ange]: I just want a little bit more. Oh, that's so
good. [Gemma]: Do you know why? Let me tell you my secret. I always use salted butter,
because it has that little bit of extra flavor. Always, in all of my recipes. And I still
add salt into my recipes, because a lot of people don't know, salt is a seasoning, not
just for savory, but for sweet as well. So don't be shy with the salt in your baking.
Yeah. [Ange]: So good. [Gemma]: And then the vanilla also doesn't hurt. [Josh]: No. [Ange]:
It’s like salt and sweet, salt and sweet. [Gemma]: Nice huh? So, now we have our dough,
this is our base dough, and what we’re going to do is take this and make it into some of
our favorite cookie dough flavors. So right now what we’re going to do is divide our
cookie dough between three bowls. So this is the really fun part, this is where we get
really creative, so what I have here is what I call my mix-ins accoutrements. [Ange]: Sounds
fancy! [Josh]: It is fancy! [Gemma]: We’re very fancy over here! So these are all kinds
of things that you want just in general. So we have some M&Ms, chocolate chips, see this
guy here, marshmallow fluff. [Ange]: What?! Get out! [Gemma]: One of my favorite things.
Peanut butter, brownies, cookies, lots of different stuff, perfect to add into your
cookie dough. [Ange]: Yes! You know what, our kids would love this. Because anytime
we can let them add anything that looks like this… [Josh]: And it’s a safe way to eat
cookie dough. [Gemma]: Yeah! There you go. And then they get to pick their own and make
their own flavors. So Ange, you're a big chocolate fan. [Ange]: I am. [Gemma]: So I thought what
we’d make for you is a brownie batter edible cookie dough. [Ange]: Love it! Sign me up!
[Gemma]: What do you think of that? [Ange]: Done. [Gemma]: So, super easy, josh, go ahead
and some cocoa powder, we’re going to put it into here. And then some of those big chunks
of brownie. [Ange]: I got it. I got this. I got the brownies. Alright, here I go. [Gemma]:
Do you see these brownies? They're the ones that I really like, they're really fudgy.
[Ange]: I love fudgy ones! Yes. [Gemma]: And then mix all together. [Ange]: Yay! [All laugh]
oh my gosh, this looks so good! [Gemma]: I love brownie batter. So I've got a question!
[Ange]: Okay. [Josh]: Yeah. [Gemma]: Considering that both you guys come from TV, how are you
finding YouTube? Because I know it’s… number one I don't know TV, but I know it’s
a whole other world. Do you find it very different? From TV? [Ange]: Well, I'd have to say, there
are some things that are the same, but then also, there's a level of the amount of production
that you have to do yourself, and I’m really just very impressed with anyone that has a
YouTube channel that can make content every week, and do it well, and consistently. I
really am. The process has been humbling. It’s hard. [Josh]: Yeah, I think the amount
of hard work, to produce a show, is tough. A lot of respect. [Ange]: Lot of respect,
lot of respect to you and like… and the quality of stuff you do too. [Josh]: And also
the community, you know, you really get direct contact with your fans. [Gemma]: That was
one of our most important things, is building a community when we started. It was “build
out a community.” and we’ve been very fortunate to do that and they're all very
lovely people. [Ange]: It’s been very moving to me, like how supportive the YouTube community
has been. [Gemma]: Yeah, yeah. [Josh]: Absolutely. They're so sweet. Harbor for yourself an amazing
community and talk to them and communicate with them and help them, and they will do
the same for you. [Josh]: Yeah. It’s been amazing. We’ve love every minute. [Ange]:
I think this is looking pretty good. [Gemma]: Yeah, it is looking good. Why don't you give
it a little taste there? [Crosstalk] [Ange]: I can tell we’re going to be really good
friends. [Gemma]: Can we be best friends? [Ange]: We’ll be BFFs. You'll have to talk
to Jenna, but… [Josh]: That’s delicious. [Gemma]: We can be best friends with her too.
[Ange]: Okay! That is so good! [Gemma]: You know what? [Ange]: That is so flippin’ good.
[Gemma]: Because the brownie batter. [Ange]: Yes. [Gemma]: The fudgy brownies. [Ange]:
I don't even need to bake this. I could just eat, just like this. And I could, because
it’s safe! [Gemma]: It is safe! And actually you just made a really good point, lots of
times people ask, can you bake these doughs, because there's no egg in it, they don't turn
out like cookies, so this just for eating, putting in ice cream. [Josh]: Ice cream! Yes!
[Gemma]: Something like that, but don't try and bake it because it just won’t turn out
the same. So Ange this looks perfect, let’s move on to josh’s flavor. So now josh for
your cookie, you said you're a fan of peanut butter? [Josh]: Yes. [Gemma]: A little bit
of a twist on the norm, have you ever heard of a fluffernutter? [Ange]: Yes! I love fluffernutter!
[Josh]: I have not. What is that? [Ange]: What? Where did you grow up? Okay, you take
peanut butter and marshmallow cream, and you put it together on a sandwich. [Gemma]: So
josh go ahead and add in your peanut butter, smooth or chunky, whatever takes your fancy.
And then into this, we’re going to add in some marshmallow fluff. [Josh]: Oh, yum. [Ange]:
I am so excited to try this one. [Josh]: Alright. [Ange]: It won’t come off! Watch out! [Gemma]:
So tell me this, there’s one thing I don't do on Bigger Bolder Baking, and it’s cookie
decorating. And like I said earlier, it’s an art form. How did you get into that? Because
I saw your cookies and the reindeer ones that you made, or the menorahs, that is insane.
[Ange]: They’re so detailed, aren't they? [Josh]: I started making cookies and cakes
for the kids. You know? [Ange]: I should say this, his family is very much the type of
folks where they'll look at something and they'll be like, well why pay someone to do
that, I bet I can figure it out. [Josh]: Yeah, that's true. [Ange]: So he was like, he would
see these cakes and cookies at birthday parties and be like “I bet I can do that” whereas
I would probably be like “I can’t do that!” [Laughter] and then you sort of kept learning
right? [Josh]: Yeah, absolutely so I looked at sites like yours, I learned from other
people… [Gemma]: You’re welcome! [Josh]: You know, learned how to do this stuff, and
I just got really into it. You know? [Ange]: He got really into it. [Josh]: And then I
started getting all the gear… now I have three drawers of cookie cutters, and all these
squeeze bottles… [Ange]: Our pantry… I'm like where are we going to put the cereal?
Because all the cookie cutters are taking up… anyway. [Josh]: I need all those things.
[Gemma]: You need all those things, they're very important. [Ange]: Our problem is we’re
running out of pantry space! Josh loves buying baking gear. I feel it’s like instead of
having a ton of tools in the garage … all kinds of frosting tips. [Josh]: No, it’s
true. And I do enjoy it, it’s very relaxing to me too. [Gemma]: Yeah. [Josh]: …To cookie-decorate.
I put my headphones in… [Ange]: He listens to an audiobook. [Josh]: I do. [Gemma]: Well,
you must be good at art. Obviously you are, but you must have previously been good at
art. [Josh]: Well, it’s funny because I never considered myself an artist, you know,
but I’m very good at replicating. So I can look at something and kind of… [Ange]: He
can look at something and then draw it exactly. And I’ll say, oh, did you make a photocopy
of this? He's like no I just drew it. Like, what? [Josh]: Yeah. [Ange]: So your brain
already goes that way. [Josh]: But ask me to draw a giraffe or something and it’s
not going to look like anything. You know? [Gemma]: Yeah, so there we go. This is looking
pretty good. I'm going to give it a taste. I'm going to go in with my fingers. [Ange]:
Yeah, yeah, can I? [Josh]: I'm going to taste this. [Ange]: Get in here. That’s really
good! So my cookie is a cookie that is kind of a combination of lots of cookies. Have
you heard of a monster cookie? [Ange]: No… [Josh]: Monster trail mix? Is it similar?
[Gemma]: Maybe that's similar. So you're talking M&Ms, chocolate chips, peanut butter, oats,
the whole shebang. All in there. [Ange & Josh] Yum! Let’s do it! [Gemma]: Isn’t that
nice? Josh I'm going to get you to do it actually because you're over there. [Josh]: Okay, alright.
[Gemma]: And just go for it man, eyeball it. [Josh]: Scoop it out? Alright, here. [Ange]:
I love it, you're like, “just go for it, man.” [All laugh] [Josh]: M&Ms, let’s
get some chocolate chips. [Ange]: Yum, yum, yum. [Josh]: I’ll do peanut butter last.
Oats too? [Gemma]: Yes please! [Josh]: Alright. Oats. [Gemma]: To make it healthy. [Josh]:
Raisins? [Gemma]: No, no raisins, just peanut butter. Yeah. [Josh]: Just peanut butter.
[Ange]: That looks so yummy! [Ange]: Oh jeez, oh lord. There we go. [Gemma]: Good job. [Josh]:
Mix it up? [Gemma]: Mix it up! So while josh is doing that, Ange, I have some office questions…
are there some really key moments that I should look out for that I'm missing where you know
people are cracking up? That show was such a gift, we laughed every single day. Every
single day there’d be a moment where one of us busted it, or teared up laughing, or
something. And how often do you get to do that, you know, at work, every day, laugh
yourself silly. Except Oscar was the hardest to make laugh. Oscar and Steve Carrell could
both like… [Gemma]: Really? [Ange]: Yes. And the one time they broke is when they kissed.
And we all lost it. Yeah, but the one scene where we were all really having a hard time
is when Michael Scott was Prison Mike. [Gemma]: No! That's one of my favorites-- I watched
it last night. [Ange]: You did?! [Gemma]: One of my favorite, favorite bits. [Ange]:
We barely-- he had to turn around and we all had to be there, and I'm always grumpy, right?
And we were all… I was biting the inside of my mouth, like oh my god, so, but yeah.
[Gemma]: He has so many amazing bits. So we’re going to taste my monster cookie. [Josh]:
Awesome. [Ange]: Yay. [Gemma]: Josh, you've mixed it up very well. [Josh]: Well thank
you. Thank you. [Gemma]: You’re welcome. [Ange]: Good job mixing, babe. That's yummy!
[Gemma]: Oh, I got something crunchy, what's crunchy? Oh, the M&Ms. [Josh]: Mhm. M&Ms.
[Ange]: the oats maybe? [Josh]: Delicious. [Ange]: Mm, yum. I'm pretty sure everyone's
going to love the cookie pizzas that we made over on your channel. [Ange]: Yeah! I think
so. They're fun, and they're pretty easy to do. [Gemma]: Super cute, and you'll see how
good I am at cookie decorating. So here's what I want you to do. Right now, head over
to Baking With Josh and Ange, subscribe to their channel, because we want to show them
some love, and then watch the video. [Ange]: And thank you so much for having us, and just
being so kind to us, because we’re new at all this, as you can tell. [Gemma]: We’re
going to show you some love, and we’re going to watch your channel because the fact that
you do baking, and you are approachable, and the chatting part of it, it’s just my favorite.
You're my new favorite people. [Ange]: Oh my gosh! [Gemma]: Group hug! [Ange]: Group
hug. [Gemma]: I really hope you enjoyed this episode, thank you so much for watching, and
I’ll see you back here really soon for more Bigger Bolder Baking. [All] Bye! [Gemma]:
Kevin, am I going red? [Ange]: He’s always like what’s the recipe and I'm like “eh!”
And he’s like… [Josh]: Whatever! [Gemma]: Yeah. [Ange]: I know that! [Laughter] it’s
like a nine-year habit of being like… [Laughter] [Gemma]: ...That’s real, like you're not
real! [Laughter]
