Orange Dodge Charger attempts to flee the Arkansas State Police - PIT / TVI MANEUVER ends pursuit
Report:
On the early morning of Monday, September 30, 2024, around midnight, I (Cpl. Jarrod Lyerly) was in my vehicle parked around
the area of U.S. 412 and U.S. 49 in Paragould when I heard Arkansas State Police Dispatch call out to C17 that there was a
pursuit in progress involving Brookland Police Department. She advised that they were near Brookland and headed north
bound on U.S. Highway 49. I immediately advised dispatch that I was in their path, and I got on U.S. Highway 49 and headed
southbound to intercept. When I approached State Highway 69, I could see them in the distance; One suspect car and behind
him, two marked units with their blue lights flashing and sirens on. At this point the pursuit was going on more than 6 miles and
their speeds were around 60 mph. I performed a U-turn up ahead in front of the oncoming pursuit so the suspect could get a
good look at who just joined the pursuit in hopes that maybe they would pull over. As they passed by, I initiated my lights and
sirens and took primary over the pursuit. It was an orange dodge charger with an Arkansas license plate of AWW46I. The car
had their flashers on but weren’t slowing down. I eased up to the rear quarter panel of the passenger side of the car and
matched their speed. I then gently turned into the suspect car causing the suspect vehicle to lose control. I accelerated through
the maneuver and the car spun around exiting the east side of the roadway. When the suspect vehicle came to rest the two
officers behind the pursuit engaged the suspect and passenger. As I turned around to approach the scene the suspect/driver of
the charger was outside his vehicle on the phone as he was being directed by Brookland PD and the Greene Co. Deputy. The
passenger remained in the vehicle with his hands up in the air while the driver was handcuffed by Greene County Deputy Miller.
After the pursuit it was discovered items were thrown out of the vehicle. Many of these items were recovered including a bag with meth, cocaine, spice, and drug paraphernalia.
