Pursuit w/ STOLEN JEEP RENEGADE - Suspects drops backpack full of 💊 & 🔫 (Arkansas State Police)
Trooper's Narrative:
On Tuesday, November 26th, 2024, at approximately 12:00 a.m., I was in the area of Interstate 630 West at the Fair Park exit
ramp. I observed a Black Jeep Renegade take the Fair Park exit ramp and proceed through the red light at the top of the exit
ramp before proceeding south on Fair Park.
I entered the exit ramp and turned South on Fair Park to conduct an enforcement stop on the vehicle. I observed the vehicle
traveling at a high rate of speed as it approached 12th Street. The vehicle turned onto 11th Street before the occupant came to
a stop near South Tyler Street. The driver began to exit the vehicle as my vehicle came to a stop behind the suspect. I
observed the driver to be a younger, light-skinned black male, wearing a dark hoodie. I ordered the driver to stop as he
reentered the driver seat and began to flee in the vehicle.
The pursuit continued South on Harrison Street across 12th Street without regard for other traffic on the roadway. I notified
Troop A Communications that I would be in pursuit of the vehicle. The pursuit continued through the residential area near 12th
Street and Fair Park before a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) was conducted near the intersection of W Charles Bussey
Avenue and S Harrison Street. After the TVI, the suspect exited the vehicle as it rolled backwards and fell to the ground. The
suspect then stood back up and fled on foot after dropping a black backpack and phone he removed from the vehicle.
I pursued the suspect on foot through the residential area before losing sight of the suspect in between numerous houses in the
blocks West of the incident location. Officers with the Little Rock Police Department, including a K9 Officer, responded and
assisted in the search for the suspect, with negative results. One Northwest Patrol Officer advised the vehicle had just been
reported stolen out of their district but was not yet entered into NCIC. LRPD confirmed the VIN matched the vehicle stolen and
attempted to contact the owner before having the vehicle towed. Reference LRPD Report 2024-161007.
While searching the property discarded by the suspect, I located a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun along with
approximately 4 grams of suspected crack cocaine. I also located numerous items of paperwork with the name Charles
McCrary. The phone discarded by the suspect began to ring. I answered the phone and identified myself as law enforcement. I
spoke to a subject who identified herself as "Tiana." She advised the phone should be in the possession of her brother "Junior."
Further investigation identified the suspect as Charles McCrary Jr. I confirmed Mr. McCrary to be the suspect who
fled from me after clearly seeing his face twice during the incident.
A warrant will be sought for Mr. McCrary for the following charges:
5-74-106 - Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms
5-36-106(e)(1) - Theft by Receiving $25,000
5-64-419(b)(1)(B) - Possession of a Controlled Substance Sch I/II 2 g - 10 g
