Dodge Challenger driver receives Arkansas State Police PIT MANEUVER & TASER! #pursuit #pit #chase
Trooper's Report:
On Saturday, December 7th, 2024, at approximately 4:13 a.m., I was in the area of Baseline Road and Chicot Road. I observed
an Orange Dodge Challenger that travelling through a private business parking lot to avoid the red light at the intersection and
began traveling North on Chicot Road.
I activated my emergency lights to proceed through the intersection in order to conduct an enforcement stop on the vehicle. As
the turned onto Azalea Drive, I heard it accelerate rapidly. Once I turned onto Azalea Drive, I observed the Challenger traveling
at a high rate of speed and disregarding a stop sign at the intersection of Azalea Drive and Sunflower Drive.
I notified Troop A Communications that I would be in pursuit. The vehicle continued to drive recklessly in the residential area,
with speeds reaching 85 MPH with no regard to stop signs in the area. At the intersection of Azalea Drive and Hinkson Road, I
was able to position my patrol unit close enough to see the Arkansas license plate 282 ZML. The suspect vehicle once again
accelerated away from me as the pursuit continued towards Oman Road.
As the suspect attempted to make the right turn to continue onto Oman Road, the vehicle lost traction for a short time and
allowed me to position my unit on the driver side for a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). The suspect vehicle began to rotate
counterclockwise before striking the curb on the right side of the road and moved back into my patrol unit, causing both
vehicles to become disabled.
I exited my vehicle and ordered the driver, later identified as Mr. Marquel Campbell, to exit the vehicle. Mr. Campbell refused to
follow orders to exit the vehicle and continued to reach around in his vehicle with his right hand. Mr. Campbell then attempted
to put his vehicle back in driver and maneuver the steering wheel to escape once again. While ordering Mr. Campbell out of his
vehicle I observed him to not be wearing a seatbelt. When his attempts failed to evade arrest once again failed, he climbed
over the center console and exited the vehicle on the passenger side. I moved to the passenger side of my vehicle.
I moved to the passenger side of my vehicle and ordered Mr. Campbell to get on the ground. Mr. Campbell did not comply and
began to walk towards me. After Mr. Campbell’s continued failure to comply with verbal commands, I unholstered my X2 taser
and deployed the first cartridge with negative result. A second cartridge was deployed and caused Mr. Campbell to fall to the
ground where he was taken into custody.
A search of the suspect vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine and 3 grams of
marijuana. Further investigation into the suspect vehicle showed the registration to be expired and the vehicle had no
insurance. Mr. Campbell was transported to Baptist Health Medical Center – Little Rock, where he was cleared by medical
personnel before being transported to the Pulaski County Regional Jail where he was charged with the following:
