I need to know if this is from you, God.
No, I'm not ready for that.
Thanks, God.
I already feel emotional, and I haven't even started.
I have one, two, three, four pages of signs and confirmation
about how God brought us together
and that we would be husband and wife
within a month of meeting each other.
Before I met my husband, I was journeying through a season of singleness.
It felt like the majority of my life was spent single.
I learned a lot about myself, about what I want and don't want in a partner
through dating different guys and having different experiences.
I ended up getting to a stage in my life of deep grief
and feeling abandoned and forgotten by God.
I would see friends get married, have babies, start their family, buy a house, move away,
and I felt like my life was in the exact same position.
And I was left crying out to God, saying,
What about me? Where's my love story?
Where is my husband? Where's my promises?
I went through a deep season of wilderness, of searching.
I was just really not questioning God or His existence,
but just sort of questioning His goodness, questioning His timing.
I was creating an idol of marriage.
I was creating an idol of my partner,
of this family life that I had always dreamed of.
That priority needed to be changed,
because God at that point wasn't my one and my only.
So what I did was I packed up my VM
and I set off on a solo trip around Australia.
And that trip was dedicated to falling in love with God again,
to finding myself again.
I knew that He was a good Father that had good things for me,
and even though I couldn't see that or feel that,
I know I needed to trust that and believe that again,
and say, God, you need to be enough for me.
It was really confronting.
There was a lot of journaling, a lot of prayer,
a lot of just marching the beach and shouting out to God.
But through that trip, I experienced such goodness,
such nearness, and such peace that I had never felt before.
He turns my mourning into dancing.
God is so close to the brokenhearted.
And I got to a point in my life where I finally was able to say,
I'm good.
If nothing changes, if I stay single for the rest of my life,
I'm actually really, really okay with that.
And it was at that point that I met my husband.
I was in Byron Bay, which is a beautiful beach coastal town.
When I look back, I can see how much God was trying to keep me in Byron.
I kept wanting to go.
I kept wanting to continue on my trip.
But week by week, things were stopping me from going.
And it was like two months of, next week I will go.
Until I went to my local cafe.
One of the girls said, oh, Laura, you really like yoga, don't you?
You should check out Creature Yoga.
It's this great yoga studio in the industrial estate.
And they've got a really cheap two-week trial pass.
You should give it a go.
I thought, gosh, now I really want to go.
But I'm supposed to leave.
I'm supposed to keep going with my beer trip.
And I thought, okay, God, is this from you?
Am I supposed to stay another two weeks?
Yes, I think I am.
All right, I don't know why.
And it was there that I met my husband.
He was doing downward-facing dog.
We were midway through class.
And I look behind me, and I'm like, damn, that is a very sexy back.
And then there was this one move where we're like reverse warrior and look behind you.
And so I was like, okay, here's my chance to see what he actually looks like.
What the front of him looks like.
And that's where I saw his face, and I was like, oh, very cute.
Class finishes.
We got to take our mats back, our blocks back.
And I sort of look at him, and I said, oh, hello.
And he just sort of smiles and nods at me and then just walks away.
And then the next day, I timed it this time so that by the time we finished class and packed away everything,
oh, I'm going to like quickly run and see him again.
And I'm like, oh, hello again.
It's you.
How did you like class?
And he just looks at me, and he's like, oh, it was good.
What about you, though?
Like, what did you think of class?
I could tell instantly, I was like, this guy's not from New Zealand.
I don't know where that accent is from, but it's very nice.
And he also put on his glasses at that point, too.
And I thought, oh, my gosh, he's reminding me of Clark Kent.
And so we just start having a conversation, and conversation flows really well.
And I thought, oh, gosh, this guy's actually really, really nice.
And he's really good to talk to and easy to talk to.
And then he looks at me and says, hey, do you want to like keep chatting?
Do you want to go get a coffee?
I said, okay, sure, that sounds really good.
And so that was the beginning of our first date.
We end up going to have coffee together.
And then that turned into a walk up to the lighthouse, which turned into a beach swim,
and going back to his place to meet his mom, to have lunch.
Like, it was an epic first date.
We hung out for like, I don't know, eight hours or so.
We talked about what we wanted in a partner, our fears, our achievements, our failures.
We were really honest because we were like, let's not mess around.
If it's you, let's figure this out.
And if not, all good.
I got my stuff to do.
I got my band trip.
And so that was actually really great.
We were never trying to be anyone else.
We're never trying to act.
We're never trying to pretend.
And so within like about a week, I was going, whoa, I like this guy.
But I don't want to just date a guy because I like him or I find him attractive or we get along well.
I am only interested in this relationship if it's from God.
If it's not from you, God, I'm all good.
I'm done.
I'm on my way.
And that was what began this four page journey of signs and confirmations that my husband was for me.
And secretly getting engaged within a month of knowing each other.
But like publicly getting engaged because it took so long for the ring to arrive within three months.
God gave me these signs, honestly, because I needed them.
I really, really needed them.
And what I do want to preface with this is I'm sharing this to to bring hope, to bring encouragement.
But I'm not sharing it as a way.
This is the way.
And if you haven't received signs from God, then your partner is not for you or anything like that at all.
But I was in such a season of desperation.
I truly needed God to move, for him to speak, for me to know that this was from him.
And this has become our testimony and this has become our love story.
So on our first date, my husband, he had not told me at the time.
He was in deep prayer about his future.
And he saw one time when he was praying a golden ticket and felt like God was saying this golden ticket was his future.
Like he didn't quite understand what that meant, like a golden ticket, like Willy Wonka, like do you want me to go into chocolate making?
He didn't really know, but he held on to that word.
Then what happened was on our first date, I shared that when I finished high school, I got a really, really high mark.
And it meant that any door, any university was open to me.
And my mom looked at me and she's like, Laura, this is amazing.
Like, congratulations.
You've got a golden ticket.
You can do anything you want.
You've got a golden ticket in your hand.
And so I was telling this to him and then he just looks at me like, what?
I was like, yeah, like I'm a golden ticket.
And he's just like, and then like the picture, the memory, the prayer, it all came back to him.
And he's like, whoa, that's big.
And I was like, yeah, yeah, that's cool.
Like I had no idea.
He only told me later.
He's like that moment for me on our first date.
He's like, I knew you were my future.
Anyway, so that was one of his little signs.
Just before I met my husband, my friend called me and gave me this prophetic word and said,
I see that you are Jasmine on a magic carpet ride.
And the magic carpet is God.
That song, A Whole New World is playing.
And just enjoy this journey.
Enjoy this process.
This is taking you on an adventure.
You're going to see a whole new world.
And then I remember hanging out going, okay, cool.
If God's the magic carpet and I'm Jasmine, who's Aladdin?
And it was maybe a week after I was at his house cleaning up.
I really listened to a lot of worship music or a lot of like acoustic folksy music.
And when you put your phone on shuffle, it just shuffles through the same sort of songs.
Like I don't really listen to anything else.
And I'm asking the same questions and praying, going, God, is this my husband?
Because I'm slightly freaking out.
I'm starting to really like this guy.
I'm washing dishes.
And then the song changes.
The shuffle changes.
And the song A Whole New World comes on.
And I initially go like, oh, weird, why is a Disney song playing?
I never listened to Disney.
And then I just remembered the prophetic word.
I remembered my friend calling me.
And I'm like, whoa.
I think I got goosebumps again now.
And I have no idea how or why, but my phone changed to that song at that exact time I prayed that prayer.
There was one time I was just in a cafe by myself.
And I was praying that prayer saying, God, show me I need to know if this is my husband.
And I just felt this urge, this prompting from God to look up the meaning of Michelle, which is my husband's name.
I was like, oh, this is a weird feeling.
And it literally translates as gift from God.
In that moment, God was like, yes, he is my gift.
He's my gift to you.
Other little signs and confirmations were things like, I used to always say growing up, I really want to marry a Tarzan.
A guy that's from the jungle and loves animals.
And lo and behold, my husband eats a plant-predominant diet, loves animals, and literally is from Brazil.
He's not from the Amazon, but the Amazon takes up a lot of Brazil.
And there was one day, I literally was praying, oh yeah, God, I really want a husband like Tarzan.
It's so silly and simple.
He was on a run, and he was running in the rain.
He comes home, Veronica looks at me, and she's like, oh, my son, Tarzan.
And I'm like, what? My son? He is Tarzan.
You know Tarzan? Man that is friends with the apes.
And I was like, yeah, I know Tarzan.
And she's like, yes, that's my son.
And I'm like, thanks, God.
But another sign was the sign of 222.
So that's been a sign for me for ages.
Whether it's seeing the time, and it's 222.
Whether I pay for something, or at the petrol station, it's 222.
Whatever it is, whenever I see that sign, it's really a sign from God, just being like, I'm here, I see you.
And when I met my husband, I asked him, oh, what's your favorite color?
And get to know your questions.
And I'm like, oh, do you have a favorite number?
And he's like, yeah, 222.
And I was like, oh, wow, cool, yeah, me too.
Yeah, weird.
And he's like, yeah, I really felt like at the beginning of the year, because it was 2022 when we met.
I really felt like at the beginning of the year, that was from God, this is going to be my year.
And it was like, ever since then, almost on a daily basis when we were together, we would see 222 everywhere.
Still to this day, we still see 222.
I even remember there was one time we were together, and we sort of had a disagreement about something.
And I was like, oh, God, is this not it?
And I turned, and there was a sign, and it said 22 peace.
And I was like, oh, wow.
The coolest thing was when I tried on my engagement ring, and I took a photo of it on my hand, just so I could look at it later and go, yes, this is the ring I want, that sort of thing.
And I looked back on that photo, and the photo was exactly 22 past two.
Little things like that, that was just like, oh, thank you, God, you're here, and you're with us, and you're for us.
The necklace that I wear, which is this one here, it's got a sun, a moon, and a star.
And I bought this years ago, and I bought it really as a prophetic act.
I felt like God was saying, like, I am your son, I am the sun, you are my star.
And I felt like he was saying that the moon is representing your husband.
And so every time I would see the moon, I would pray, and it would be a reminder, and I'd pray for my future husband, and I'd pray, God, be with him.
God, direct him, guide him, strengthen him.
There was one time that we were on the beach, and I was lying down, and my husband was sitting up, although he wasn't my husband at the time.
And I just prayed, I was like, God, can you just show me, can you tell me if it's my husband?
And I looked up, I saw him, and then right above him was the moon.
And it was like a summer's day, but you know how sometimes the moon comes out, and you can see the moon, even though it's like daytime?
And it was a moon that was perfectly shaped, just in this little crescent moon.
At that point, as soon as I opened my eyes, I saw him, I saw the moon, I got reminded of my necklace, I got reminded of the prayers I had prayed years ago.
And it was like, whoa, you're my moon, you're the person I've been praying for.
And then when we went to actually order this ring, I read the description, a custom-cut Brazilian stone in a crescent half-moon shape.
And as soon as I read that, I knew, oh my gosh, this is my ring, this is my ring, because my husband is custom-cut for me from Brazil, and he is my moon.
And then that night, I ended up opening up my Bible, and I read 1 Corinthians 15, 14, which talks about the sun, the moon, and the stars.
Like I said, my husband just received two signs from God, I received like so many, because I kept asking, and I kept being like, oh my gosh, God just told me this, God showed me this.
And my husband would always be like, how many signs does God need to give you before you just accept, you know?
He went for a run, ended up going into a shop, finding two stones, and he picked up a black one, and he picked up an orange one, and he bought them as a gift from me.
He ends up continuing on his run, and going up to the lighthouse, and it's there that he prays a lot.
And it was there he asked God, and says, I'm really ready for a yes or for a no, but I need to know, is Laura going to be my wife?
And at that point, God reminded him that he had like two stones with him, and just like in the Bible, how they draw straws, or do things like that,
he felt really prompted to ask God really clearly, yes or no, with the stones.
And so he felt like the black stone was no, and the orange stone was yes.
And so he mixed them up, and ended up pulling out the orange stone.
And for him, that was like all he needed.
He felt, it wasn't just a matter of, oh, I picked the stone.
He really felt the presence of God in that moment, and felt the weight and the gravity of that, and like, yes, Laura is for you.
And he comes back from the run, and he's like, look, I've got these two stones.
I had this experience.
It was amazing.
God told me that you're going to be my wife, blah, blah, blah.
And in that moment, I was like, you're basing your whole life to be with me.
Granted, this was like maybe two weeks in to us knowing each other.
I was like, you're going to change the trajectory of your life based on stones?
Oh my gosh, this guy's ridiculous.
You can't do that.
You can't like choose me just because a stone says so.
And he's like, a stone didn't say so.
I was like, God told me.
It's you.
And I was like, OK, cool.
Like, if you feel like that, that's really good.
But God hasn't confirmed that with me.
So good for you, but, you know, I still need to figure that out.
And he's like, OK, cool.
Here are the stones.
You can use the stones and ask God.
And I was like, no way.
No way am I asking God through stones to tell me if you're going to be my husband like that.
I'm just not ready for that sort of like clarity.
Maybe like a week, two weeks go by.
Every day, he's like, have you asked God?
Have you picked the stones?
And I was like, no, I'm not going to pick stones.
And also, meanwhile, God was giving me all these other signs of confirmation.
I was getting really prayerful and really like, I need to really know God.
I need to make it really clear.
Is this my husband?
And going, God, is this for me?
They both came back from cleaning a house one day.
And he had no idea how anxious I was at the time, how stressed I was, how much I was questioning everything.
And his mom, who is so sweet, Veronica, she comes in.
And she's like, hi, darling.
Hi, hi.
We had such a good day cleaning.
Guess what we ended up finding in the house?
And I was like, oh, what?
And she's like, we ended up finding this necklace.
And I looked at the necklace, and it's a black cord necklace with a metal coil.
And inside the coil was a black and an orange stone, exactly like the ones that were sitting on the shelf.
I looked at them, and I was like, oh, my gosh.
Like weird that you would find something like that.
And weird that it's a black and an orange stone.
Weird they look exactly the same.
Like, whoa, what's going on, God?
Anyway, she puts it around her neck.
And it's like, oh, I like it.
It's so pretty.
And so we sit down.
We have dinner.
And the entire time, I'm going, like, what the heck?
As soon as we finished, and I go, God, you just have to tell me.
Is Michelle going to be my husband?
Is he from you?
And it was at that exact time, Veronica stands up to collect the plates.
Her necklace just swings forward.
And as it swings forward, the black stone flies out of her necklace, falls to the ground, and goes underneath the couch.
And she's left only with the orange stone inside.
And I'm there going, what just happened?
Even though I couldn't ask and I couldn't do it, God's brought the answer to me in his goodness, in his kindness, in his timing.
He answered for me the question I was too scared to ask.
And it was crazy because after that, she sort of takes off the necklace and washes up the dishes.
And I'm left with the necklace.
My husband's like, you OK?
What's going on?
I said, yeah, it's just weird, like the necklace.
And he's like, yeah.
He's like, it's just like the yes or no stones, right?
And I'm like, yeah.
And he's like, and it's weird, she's just left with the yes one.
And I'm like, yeah.
And it's like, weird, it fell out.
Like, how easy do you think it is for it to fall out?
And then he gets it and starts shaking it.
And he tries to shake out the yes stone.
And it would not come out, no matter how vigorously he tried to shake out the stone.
And I'm like, OK, God, I get it.
I get it.
I got the message.
So that was like the story of the stones.
And I think the really cool thing from it all is my engagement ring.
It's an orange citrine stone.
This, for me, was one of the significant moments that I knew that my husband was my husband.
We're just praying together.
And then we closed our eyes.
And I instantly see God is there.
So I'm just closing my eyes.
And I'm just walking through this sort of scene.
And I'm like, God, what have you got behind your back?
And he's like, I've got a gift for you.
I said, OK, what is it?
I love gifts.
Gifts are my love language.
He takes it out.
And it's my necklace.
He puts it on me.
And he's like, I've got something else for you, too.
And it was this gold liquid oil.
And then he started pouring it over me.
And it was like perfume.
And I got reminded of Esther in the Bible.
And so many women, they would cover themselves in oils and incense and gold.
And that was a sign that they were getting prepared and ready for marriage.
And so all of this is happening in this sort of meditation.
And I'm like, whoa, God, what's going on?
What's happening?
And he's like, I'm preparing you.
And then the last thing he pulled out was my ring.
And he puts a ring on my finger.
What's happening?
Are you preparing me for marriage?
This is happening?
And he looks at me and he says, yes, this is happening.
I've been preparing you.
I come out of the meditation.
And I'm silent.
And I just feel overwhelmed.
Because it was in that moment.
It's like nothing crazy happened.
You could say it all happened in my head.
But it was the most moving experience.
Because I really felt like God was anointing me and pouring oil over me.
And I was like, oh, my gosh, I am going to marry this guy.
And then I sort of look over to my husband.
And he opens his eyes.
He's just sort of smiling.
He's feeling good.
And I'm like, huh.
And whenever I'm a little bit nervous, I'm like, okay, I'm just going to read my Bible.
What do I read?
I feel so overwhelmed.
I thought, I'll read the proverb of the day.
And then my husband looks over at me and he's like, what are you reading?
I said, oh, just Proverbs 18.
And he's like, oh, weird.
I've been seeing 18 everywhere.
But I don't know what it means.
Can we read it together?
I said, yeah, sure.
And then halfway through it talks about, like, gifts from God.
And I'm like, oh, wow, I've just had a meditation about God giving me all these gifts.
And I'm like, okay, keep reading.
And then we get to verse 22.
And verse 22 says, he who finds a wife finds a good thing and finds favor from the Lord.
And then Michelle just looks at me and says, that's why I've been seeing 18 everywhere.
It's for this verse, verse 22, which is 2-2-2.
Because God's told me that you're going to be my wife.
So, Laura, would you like to be my wife?
Will you marry me?
And I just start crying because he had no idea that God literally just seconds beforehand said,
this is going to be your husband and I'm preparing you for marriage.
And I just look at him, I'm like, yes, yes, I will marry you.
All of it, all the signs, all the 2-2-2, my necklace with the vision with the gold pouring on me,
to my wedding ring, this yes stone, everything.
It all just like beautifully added up and was confirmation from God.
He was supposed to be my husband and I could honestly keep going, but I'll keep it short and leave it there.
So it's a real privilege to share this with you.
And I really do pray that it encourages you and remind you of God's goodness, of his timing,
of his gifts and perfect partner he has for you to hold on, to wait for the goodness of God.
Yeah, I really do pray that this blesses you.
Yeah.
