Man recounts heart-pounding rescue during Hurricane Helene

right now the rescue at Sea during Hurricane Helen you may have seen that the Coast Guard saved a man in his dog from his disabled boat Gio Bonitas is here with the inside story of how they pulled off the daring rescue good morning Gia George good morning yeah over the weekend so many of us saw that unbelievable Rescue video of the Sailor and his dog right in the middle of hurricane Helen's wrath but now this morning right here we're hearing exactly how it went down and the new details are just as incredible as the video itself this morning Coast Guard video seen here captured the harrowing Rescue of a sailor and his dog from dangerous waves 30 ft high as a treacherous hurricane Helen moves in the Coast Guard spotting The Vessel 26 Mi off the coast of santel Island in Florida the 36t sailboat taking on water the Sailor Earl barhome telling ABC affiliate wzvn that he and his 10-year-old golden retriever gun were living on the boat and moving away from the hurricane when their motor failed and they began taking on water it was moving mountains of water every which way you turn and that these ways were just everywhere you look barcome calling for help and I said gun this isn't the day we're going to die I'm calling the Coast Guard within minutes the Coast Guard responding and dropping a diver in the Rough Waters this video from the diver's helmet camera both barcome and gun the golden retriever wearing life vests jumping into the sea from the sinking ship The Rescuer Coast Guard petty officer second class Ted Hudson telling CNN that adrenaline kicked in helicopter was is uh in 60 mph winds the pilots have to control that the whole time so it was a dangerous situation to be in and I was just trying to get out of there as fast as possible then barol and his dog were hoisted up to Safety in the helicopter what what comes next time will tell you know do I have hope I have I have a new uh I have a new understanding and that's a beautiful thing it is a beautiful thing and barcome also saying he was living out his dream of sailing the world with his dog he calls him his best friend the hurricane took his boat but not that dream he says he's going to keep trying for that but most importantly he is beyond grateful to that officer and the coast guard for saving their lives guys oh thank you so much for bringing us that story we needed it today thank you Gio
