when you first walk into picnic there's
a wine shop Vibe you can walk around and
pick up the bottles and take it to the
table the wine shop is located inside
what was once known as building number
one it was the old wh Broad and has
Brewery and the dining room was the
breweries building number two we just
saw this really unique space that you
couldn't recreate nowaday if you wanted
the Wii is the team at defined
Hospitality we fell in love with the
history and the character of the
building we're like we want to save this
place this is what looked like when they
found it it was basically falling apart
there was no roof few pigeons and uh a
lot of debris 3 years later it's an
11,000 squ foot restaurant with a picnic
style Vibe so this rotisserie is really
special the rotisserie is a centerpiece
of the open concept kitchen there's not
one in Philadelphia for sure and I don't
think there's one on the east coast the
wood and charcoal is housed in the back
so we're able to catch all like the
juices and the drippings all that
schaltz adds flavor to a variety of
vegetable based side dishes we love
veget and whatever's in season we really
want to focus on summer favorites
include the watermelon and goat cheese
salad and the heirloom tomatoes it's
actually from my mom's Garden the
organic chicken comes from a Farm in
Pennsylvania it's a fantastic chicken
it's brined and coated in spices before
it hits the rotisserie the whole process
takes 2 days it's served with a
selection of sauces we have a chili oil
here that you can mix and match we have
a pickled pepper oi an chovi salsa ver
day plates are big enough to share this
is the Grateful ched and you can create
create your own meat and cheese board we
have five to six cheeses and three
different Meats this is the Aged
appalachin everything is cut and sliced
to order this is a Pudo and these are
the french fries scratch made in house
and then we have an oyster bar as well
there are five everchanging varieties on
the menu these are the birthday girls
all from the East Coast we focus on east
coast oysters I think they all taste
different there's a cocktail bar too we
have a strawberry gimlet here like the
food menu Chef Nick Kennedy says the
focuses on quality ingredients and good
technique this is a shamoy margarita
shamoy is a fermented salted plum and if
you're looking for a place to watch the
big game the floral filled frames around
the dining room are actually TVs in
Disguise you want to create something
special where people can come in and
really just have a good time together
look reservations are highly recommended
don't say we didn't tell you the place
is massive but it's already proven to be
very popular
