Many were shocked by President Biden's performance during the Trump Biden Debate. And now there's a growing call for Biden to step aside for another candidate to challenge Trump. The question is, is that even possible?
The Democratic Party is turning on Joe Biden.
But is it even possible to replace him in time for the election?
Welcome to America Uncovered, I'm Chris Chappell.
Wow.
Just...wow.
So going into the debate, I was imagining it really wouldn't change anyone's mind.
The people who were for Trump would still be for Trump, and the people for Biden would
still be...at least not for Trump.
But I was wrong.
Because it seems like now there's a lot of Democrats who are also not for Biden.
That was painful.
I love Joe Biden.
I work for Joe Biden.
He didn't do well at all.
He did not do well at all.
He's doing the best that he can.
But he had a test to meet tonight to restore confidence of the country and of the base,
and he failed to do that.
Politico says Democrats are freaking out over Biden's debate performance.
Time says panic.
And CNN says, well, I can't say this on YouTube.
Just last week, we were being told videos of Biden looking confused were cheap fakes.
And then the debate happened.
Making sure that we're able to make every single solitary person eligible for what I've
been able to do with the COVID, excuse me, with dealing with everything we have to do
with, uh, look, if we finally beat Medicare.
Thank you, President Biden.
And I'm going to continue to move until we get the total ban on the total initiative
relative to what we're going to do with more border patrol and more asylum officers.
President Trump?
I really don't know what he said at the end of that sentence.
I don't think he knows what he said either.
Well, age certainly hasn't stopped Trump's ability to burn.
So today, I'm going to focus mainly on Biden.
People have already made up their minds on Trump.
There's nothing really new to discuss about him, as far as the debate goes.
What's interesting to me is the sudden call for Biden to step aside.
Thomas Friedman says Biden is a good man and a good president, and he must bow out of the
race.
One lawmaker told the Wall Street Journal,
Even the New York Times editorial board says Biden should leave the race.
Polling after the debate proved what every Democrat fears—support for Trump shot way
up after it.
A longtime Democratic campaign advisor speaking to CNBC said,
Biden's got to leave.
He's got to get out now, and if he doesn't get out, we're going to get crushed.
But the election is only a few months away.
Is that even possible?
Most states already held their presidential primary.
Biden won.
And the Democratic rules say that the delegates Biden won should support him at the party's
upcoming national convention.
The current rules read,
Delegates elected to the national convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall
in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.
Of course, the delegates could just ignore the way people voted, but it's not like the
Democrats had a major issue with something like that in recent memory.
Now it's possible someone could challenge Biden before then.
But the most likely replacement candidates—Vice President Kamala Harris and California Governor
Gavin Newsom—have come to Biden's defense.
Can I just say, I think Newsom would make a great president.
He'd really clean up this country.
Every time China comes to visit.
The problem is, there's no template for what the would-be deposers of Biden and Harris
are suggesting.
Of course, Biden could withdraw.
Two problems with that, though.
One, it seems Biden isn't thinking of backing down anytime soon.
Biden says that he's committed to stay in the presidential race, and return for a second
debate against Trump.
Wow, Biden's like Captain America.
He takes a beating and says, I can do this all day.
Also, he was alive during World War II.
Now some are hoping that he could be convinced to withdraw.
According to the New York Times, major donors were wondering if Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi,
or Chuck Schumer could convince Biden to stand down.
Apparently some donors are blaming his wife for not telling him to step aside.
But even if he does withdraw—and that's an if—he can't just appoint someone to
replace him.
And that's the second problem.
There would have to be a last-minute slugfest between who knows how many candidates vying
to get the DNC nomination.
Remember how many Democratic candidates were running for the 2020 election?
The election is in November.
The DNC is supposed to pick its candidate in August.
There's not much time.
On the bright side, there is absolutely no way we will ever have another presidential
election between Trump and Biden.
Unless maybe Barron versus Hunter.

Another way I'm getting around YouTube censorship is by hiding controversial topics in gaming
content.
Stalin.
Mao.
They created powerful cults of personality that killed millions.
How'd they do it?
On this episode of my new show, Deep Thoughts While Gaming, I take a look at the lure of
charismatic leaders in Dragon's Dogma 2.
