Is AI slop really going to be what saves the midterms for Trump?
The government didn't tell the whole truth about 9-11.
This is my shocked face.
And there are cracks in Hunter Biden's meme coin rollout,
which is the second worst type of crack Hunter is associated with.
That and more on this week's America Uncovered headlines.
Welcome to America Uncovered, I'm Chris Chappell.
We're starting with a new segment this week.
The Trump AI Slop Roundup.
Yes, AI.
That totally non-controversial thing everyone loves
that one anthropic researcher says has a more than 10% chance of killing us all within a decade.
But hey, that's a risk worth taking if it gives us the delicious slop you're about to see.
Our president wished American workers a happy Labor Day
by posting an AI-generated video that featured zero American workers,
and instead showcased an automated factory making the pen he used to sign executive orders.
As you can imagine, many were upset about this.
But what do you expect from a video that's made by robots?
Of course they'd give a shout out to their fellow hardworking cyber brethren.
But at least Trump was working on Labor Day,
posting AI slop that suggests we should rename New Mexico to New America.
Where will this end?
Gulf of America?
Lake of America?
New America?
Are we eventually going to start calling these American standoffs?
Actually, given how many guns are in America, that sounds more accurate.
Speaking of New Americas, Trump also posted a map
showing Canada, Latin America, and Greenland as part of the US.
I just want affordable living, man.
Even many Trump supporters are tired of all these trolling slash
maybe not trolling question mark antics.
A new poll shows Americans overwhelmingly oppose Trump renaming Lake Ontario.
Trump is becoming such a troll,
he's starting to feel like this AI character that has been going viral,
making fun of MAGA supporters.
God, it's like a live action Meat Canyon cartoon.
Ugh.
If this keeps up, it could cost a lot of support on the right,
which isn't great just before the midterms.
But then again, many Trump supporters have embraced this character,
so maybe it won't be too damaging.
After all, stereotypically being a fat ignorant slob
is the most American thing ever.
Besides an American standoff.
Trump also posted a hypothetical gaze for Gaza activists
being murdered by a seemingly intolerant Islamic migrant,
which I think is in poor taste to make up something like this.
Oh, what's that Shelley?
Oh, Trump didn't post it, and that isn't AI.
No wonder people can't tell the difference between reality and AI
when reality is so insanely ridiculous, it murders satire.
Like Lindsay Clancy murdered her children.
Here is where I would usually say, allegedly,
but I'm not gonna since Clancy admitted to it.
Just don't tell that to your wine-drunk aunt on Facebook
who's still saying the husband did it.
Clancy's attorney also admitted to it,
yet asked Trump for a pardon,
even though the president can't give a pardon to someone being tried in a state trial.
I can't tell what's more embarrassing,
this guy's obvious ploy to taint future jury pools,
or the prosecution who only got a mistrial
after one lone juror refused to budge on their guilty verdict.
Allegedly.
Finally, to round out the Trump AI slop roundup...
Thanks, sound effect guy.
Trump posted this video of himself as a Green Lantern,
which I have to say is blatantly hypocritical.
He spent so much time fear-mongering about the left,
and now he's implementing his own Green New Deal.
A Green Lantern ring would come in handy, though,
since Iran-backed Houthis attacked four cities in US ally Saudi Arabia.
The US attacked Iranian oil tankers near Crog Island.
I just want affordable living, man.
Can anyone with a Green Lantern ring construct that?
Because gas prices were at a record high for any Labor Day,
and diesel hit an all-time record.
Now, to be complete, that doesn't mean that gas prices are at a record high.
That happened in June of 2022.
They're just at a record high for Labor Day.
Diesel prices are actually at an all-time high, though.
But hey, expensive diesel is only a problem for semi-trucks.
And it's not like they're hauling goods that will also get more expensive.
That'd be a bummer.
But enough doom and gloom.
Let's lighten the mood.
9-11.
No reason I'm bringing that up right after talking about the Saudis.
Nope!
They're wonderful allies.
Besties, even.
Yesterday marked 25 years since September 11, 2001.
25 years!
And perhaps more solemnly,
it also marked the 8-year anniversary of Ted Cruz liking a porn post on Twitter.
Never forget.
And what better way to commemorate 9-11
than getting into political debates and ripping the country apart from within?
Terrorists didn't win.
Only America is strong enough to destroy America.
The internet was awash with people saying that
President Trump reflected on 9-11 with a powerful story
about being physically lifted by powerful firefighters
and carried to safety at Ground Zero.
Even though he wasn't at Ground Zero.
Which isn't what happened.
What Trump did was tell a story about firefighters
carrying him out of US Steel Tower in Pittsburgh
when they thought it was going to come down on top of them due to all the creaking.
I guess because talking about 9-11 reminded him of it?
He just says things.
You know, at this point, if you're not used to it, it's kind of on you.
Like how after the Supreme Court rejected a push to use Trump-backed congressional maps
that would help Republicans in Missouri in the midterms, Trump had this to say.
If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate,
both of them, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America
for 5,000 dollars.
Wow.
What an interesting way of announcing the launch of his new fragrance,
Desperation by GOP.
But back to the endless political jabs.
Is it an election year?
I hadn't noticed.
The mayor of New York City when the Twin Towers were struck, Rudy Giuliani,
said he didn't think current New York Mayor Zoran Mamdani should attend the 9-11 ceremony
because that would offend him.
And he's not alone, as over 100,000 people signed a petition asking Mamdani
not to attend the ceremony, citing
past comments he, his father, and his allies have made.
Mamdani, meanwhile, actually did something for 9-11 victims, specifically first responders.
He released records showing New York officials
misled citizens about the air quality around Ground Zero.
City Hall has made a more than $34 million commitment to create a new public portal
providing information about our city's response to the horrific attack.
These are documents that show what the city knew about the toxic air around Ground Zero,
when they knew it, and how they acted to limit liability.
Yes, that's Jon Stewart.
He's a longtime advocate for 9-11 first responders.
So it makes sense he's there, but doesn't make it any less distracting.
Kind of like the first time you heard there's a green lantern named Jon Stewart.
Since when was the tiny Jewish guy from The Daily Show a black space cop?
So Giuliani is offended by Mamdani going to the 9-11 memorial because
he thinks Mamdani's ideology led to the attack,
while Mamdani exposed records that indicate Giuliani's administration
took actions that may have led to the death of New Yorkers after the attack.
I never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait until Thanksgiving
when the political arguments will be less intense.
On the bright side, it was nice to hear about a political argument
that didn't involve Trump for the first time in a decade.
3, 2, 1...
Smithsonian Head Lonnie Bunch
is retiring amid a clash with the Trump administration.
Joy.
A fight over museums involving people old enough to be in a museum.
Bunch said he's not retiring due to pressure from the Trump administration.
But the Trump administration said it might stop working with the Smithsonian
if they didn't change their leadership,
accusing them of moving toward an extreme political activism
that seeks to transform our country.
And I said, I just want affordable living, man.
I don't think I'm asking for anything unreasonable like clean water.
Because the US federal court says there's no constitutional right to clean water.
This stems from a 2022 lawsuit where several residents of Jackson, Mississippi
claimed tainted drinking water violated their constitutional rights.
The lower court dismissed this case,
and when appealed, this federal court upheld the decision.
Not to make light of the decision,
but it's not a surprise Mississippi is where this is happening,
since bodies of water in Mississippi
are the most likely place to have a stranger approach you and say,
hey kids, want to see a dead body?
So what gives?
Is the government going full mask off
and protecting corporations in the most corrupt actions since...
Actually, there are too many examples to think of throughout the past,
so just take your pick, I guess.
The gist of it is that the judges feel the people
should have brought forth this case in a different way,
so it's less corrupt and more clerical.
They said the Mississippi residents wanted
recognition of two new constitutional rights
lacking any foundation in the history and tradition of our nation—
the right to be free from exposure to contaminated water
and the right to accurate information from public officials.
While those are things that people absolutely should and deserve to have,
they're not in the Constitution.
Kind of like PS5s.
I think we should make an amendment so everyone gets one,
but until we do, I can't really sue over it.
The judges felt the residents should have gone after tort claims,
which allege harm by others while trying to hold them liable.
Like if you tried suing a restaurant for making a multi-layered chocolate cake
too delicious and it made you fat, then you'd file a tort tort.
Hopefully these residents will be able to get clean water,
but it's important to go through the correct channels.
I just realized I made an accidental water pun.
To claim something is a constitutional right,
you have to look at what's actually in the Constitution
and think about what the Founding Fathers would say.
Except for Benjamin Fanklin.
We know what he would say.
Where da hoes at?
I don't usually do this, but for this last story,
I'm going to issue a trigger warning.
To Matt.
Hunter Biden launched a meme coin inspired by his infamous laptop.
Yes, Hunter launched...
Actually, how do you say that?
Laptop?
Dollar laptop?
Slap top?
Anyway, he said the symbol the right used to tear him down
is now a symbol of his resilience.
Conservative journalist Nick Sorter predicted this was a scam,
and anyone who invested in it would lose it all.
Come on, everyone is worthy of a second chance.
Hunter has been on a redemption tour,
doing podcasts across the political spectrum.
So I'm sure this meme coin will be a huge success.
And it crashed 99% two hours after launch.
A symbol of his resilience.
Should've seen that coming.
Anyone who believed they'd get rich off a Hunter Biden meme coin are gullible idiots.
Unlike people voting for Republicans expecting to get 5,000 bucks for it.
I'm sure that'll pan out.
Just like all those tariff checks.
Any day now.
One of the people Hunter was interviewed by,
Channel 5's Andrew Callahan,
had to put out a statement saying that Hunter had asked for their mailing list
to advertise his coin,
and they removed all the info about public subscribers
since they don't believe in promoting crypto.
So yeah, this either looks like a scam,
or just a horrible financial decision.
But to anyone who lost a ton of money on this,
it's going to be okay.
You won't have to worry about being broke for long,
since there's apparently a greater than 10% chance
that AI will kill us all within the next decade.
Until then, just sit back, relax,
and enjoy all the delicious slop that won't cost you anything.
And now I'm happy to announce the return of my other show,
Deep Thoughts While Gaming,
where I try to beat YouTube's algorithm
by hiding controversial topics in gaming content.
This time, it's a video essay on Lindsay Clancy,
Undertale,
and what a monster really is.
Just click here.
Once again, I'm Chris Chappell.
See you next time.
