now in the peak of asparagus season and
to many locals and even people from
around the world including our own 22

there's no better place to get the
vegetable than up in Hadley and 22 news
reporter Heath calb is live in
Northampton with a look at this year's
asparagus season and why the Hampshire
County town is actually known as the
asparagus capital of the
world yeah Nick it all began this year
late in April but asparagus season is
still alive and well as our good friend
Brian lapis knows I'm sure I know he
loves getting the asparagus and a lot of
people say it has the best asparagus
throughout the world because of the soil
throughout the town now many farmers
throughout howly produce the vegetable
Every Spring and has become a staple
crop in the town due to its climate and
soils and because it could be found
everywhere at once its nickname has
become hadly grass I spoke to wanik
produce who tells me that they've had
customers rushing to them the last few
weeks looking to get their hands on the
asparagus we're the asparagus capital of
the World we're known for it people come
and tell us they've seen it in Paris
London all over the world so it has to
do with the taste it's a lot more
vibrant taste than if it was grown
somewhere
else wanic produce sells asparagus from
four different local farms in Hadley
West farm forrex farm planville farm and
janowski's farm now typically asparagus
season last about 6 to S weeks and wanic
farm tells me that their last days or
selling the asparagus should be around
father Father's Day weekend so if you
want some of the worldclass asparagus up
in Hadley here in Hampshire County you
should hurry up and get it now I know
Brian lapis will working for you live in
