It's now the end of October
and the weather has been getting cooler. 22 News

be doing to your lawn before much colder weather arrives.
Well Ciara and Claire
it's important to get things done before
winter weather gets here or you could
end up with problems.
Many lawns are still looking pretty green right now and
according to Gary Korshain
of G&H Landscaping you should still be mowing
your lawn regularly. The leaves
are falling off the trees now and they're
starting to pile up it's
also important to make sure you get those leaves off
your lawn if you have a heavy leaf accumulation
on your lawn and then it
snows your lawns 100% sure to die underneath that that leaf coverage so
you want to be sure that you clean the leaves
and the easiest way to clean the
leaves is do it regularly do it weekly do it bi-weekly
but at least get the
heavy heavy leaves off your lawn a few leaves here
and there aren't going to
matter. This is also the time of year to winterize
your sprinkler system. You want to make sure your
water is at least off. Drain that backflow preventer if you can.
Sometimes there's a plug.
We put a faucet on the bottom
so you can open that faucet and let the water drain out
and then we'll come along and blow the systems out.
This is also a good time to put down fertilizer
as well. Now Gary Korshain says temperatures in the upper 20s
and lower 30s like we've been seeing
recently shouldn't damage
your sprinkler system since most of the components are
underground and insulated by the soil.
