Sizzling Samba meets the Great Wall: Brazil-China Trade Tango Unveiled!
Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin is scheduled to arrive in Beijing on Saturday to engage in a series of talks with his Chinese counterpart Han Zheng. The discussions will mostly revolve around collaborative initiatives between the two nations, namely pertaining to trade, infrastructure, and climate change policies.
Alckmin's visit, scheduled until June 7, is part of the Sino-Brazilian High-Level Commission for Consultation and Cooperation (Cosban), which aims to revitalize the main platform for ministerial discussions between China and Brazil.
The next summit, which takes place just over a year after Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's previous official visit to China, will mostly concentrate on initiatives that have the potential to enhance economic ties between Brazil, its neighboring countries, and China. This meeting is particularly significant as it occurs at a time when Beijing is actively managing heightened tensions with both Washington and Brussels.
The upcoming gathering will commemorate the first face-to-face Cosban summit in five years, coinciding with Lula's reinstatement as Brazil's president in 2023.
Cosban was founded in 2004 and is jointly led by the vice presidents of both countries. It meets every two years.
