Russia vs. Europe: Macron's Strong Stance Raises Stakes in the Ukraine Conflict
In an interview with the Economist published on Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macron said that he would consider deploying soldiers to Ukraine if Russia were to breach Ukrainian front lines and if Kyiv were to formally request such assistance.
According to The Economist, Macron granted the interview following his delivery of a significant speech last week in which he asserted that Europe is vulnerable and might potentially cease to exist as a result of Russian aggression, particularly in light of their invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
"I am not excluding any possibilities, as we are dealing with someone who is also not excluding any possibilities," stated Macron in response to a question about whether he still supports his previous remarks, which caused significant concern throughout Europe, on the potential deployment of Western troops.
