HONDA MOTORCYCLE runs from Arkansas State Police - "Helped" off bike after pursuit #chase #police
Trooper's Report:
On July 8, 2023 at approximately 1045hrs, I was stopped in the parking lot of Big Red at 2975 Highway 270E. A blue colored
Honda motorcycle (AR-LPN: 867FW) passed eastbound at a high rate of speed. with a white male operator that was wearing
no eye protection. I pulled onto Highway 270E, behind the motorcycle whom had stopped at a red traffic light. As I pulled
behind it, the motorcycle accelerated through the red traffic light and reached a high rate of speed.
I activated my emergency lights and attempted to stop the fleeing motorcycle. Reaching speeds of 89mph in a 45mph zone, the
operator displayed wanton disregard for the safety of fellow motorist as he entered the oncoming lane to pass same directional
drivers by way of the oncoming/center-turning lane. The operator fled with speeds that forced him into uncontrolled turns on
curves. The motorcycle wobbled and slid through turns, with the operator having to use his feet as stabilization. I activated
different tones on my siren and used my public announcement (PA) radio in attempt to get the operator to comply. Prior to
reaching Akers Road, the operator slowed speed briefly and I activated my PA radio, stating "State Police, Pull Over!" but the
operator continued to flee.
Upon reaching Akers Road, I moved to a side-by-side position with the fleeing motorcycle and the operator finally pulled to the
roadside. The operator, who was identified as Matthew Magby was taken into custody without further incident.
The motorcycle was towed by Tillery Towing, from the State Police rotation.
Magby was charged with:
Fleeing,
Reckless Driving,
Driving on Suspended, and
Speeding 15+mph.
