Exploring the ruins of Puilaurens
It’s time to conquer the fifth son of Carcassonne! After we visited the medieval city of Carcassonne and the castles of Peyrepertuse, Quéribus, Termes and Aguilar; we knew we had to come back to visit the last of the famous six: Puilaurens! And what a castle ruin it is! You start of by climbing a steep winding path up to the entrance gate while you feel the castle towers loom over you. Once inside you realise just how majestic this ruin really is. The crenellation has been very well preserved and the entire place oozes medieval might. From high up on the rock you have a fantastic view over the landscape and valleys of sunny South of France. And in the keep you feel invincible as you discover all this castle has to offer! Hope you enjoy!
Castle of Peyrepertuse:
• Amazing fortress ...
