Our daughter went off to college, so we wanted to send her something to remind her of her hometown. We started in one direction and ended up having to reverse course. It still came out great.
We create a personalized wood sign with a vinyl stencil in the shape of Virginia. We used a vinyl stencil that we cut out on the Cricut. We first tried to stain a negative of the state into the sign, but the stain bled.
So, we made lemonade out of lemons and finished staining the entire sign. Then, we applied the of part of the vinyl on the sign and used chalk paint to create a white painted positive of Virginia.
We place a wooden heart on Richmond, So, she will remember where she lives.
