Harsh environment on Mars: Dead or Alive? This special episode will recount the design and testing, as well as launch of two crafts headed to Mars.
The result was the historic successful landing of the first probe on Mars.
Humans have always wished and were curious to learn about the universe. What is the most important question we are dealing with in space science? That is, "Are we alone?" When we get to Mars, the closest and most likely place where life could have arisen elsewhere in this solar system.
What we're really doing is asking who are we, where are we from, and where are we going? It is possible that life first evolved on Mars and was knocked off the surface and brought to Earth. Maybe we're all Martians??
Therefore, to discover and search for life on Mars, we have used machines, specific autonomous vehicles with breakthrough technology to probe instead of humans.
