Hey everyone! Today we're doing our FIRST ever Q&A!! If you have any questions for our twinners, ask them below in the comments section and we will get a separate twin Q&A out for you later this week! :) Love you all!!!
We are a FUN and ADVENTUROUS family of 6 who lost our son to SIDS in 2014. Our biggest regret was not having family videos of him when he was here and is why we started doing daily vlogs!
Thomas is a 2X North American Champion in his kick-boxing career and Ashley is a network-marketing professional and speaker in her company.
Together we have 5 year old Identical twins- Simon & Cohen. Our son Miloh was born 12/12/13 and passed away 5/20/14. We were blessed with our Rainbow baby Ezrah this year on 03/02/17 and we have loved sharing our every day journey with our followers and are looking forward to where this journey takes us!
Well, I think you twisted it a little bit. Is that good?
That is perfectly square.
Is it?
My allergies.
Oh, yeah. Wake up, wake up.
Does that help?
No.
Okay, guys, we are gonna answer some of those questions you had.
So, here are some of those answers.
Now, I did say this is like a family thing, but no one asked Simon and Co any questions.
So, they are not invited, okay?
I think you guys should ask...
Maybe you should ask Simon and Co some questions.
We'll do like their own little Q&A.
I think that would be fun.
That's a good idea.
First thing, do you guys ever fight about certain things?
What's your... Okay, let's answer that one first.
No.
We've never fought in our life.
Is that crazy?
We never have.
Just kidding.
Well, there's something that I do that...
The, like, number one thing I do that makes Ashley mad.
Your drawer.
I leave my drawer open.
And I didn't even know this until she started pointing it out to me.
And then she said that I'm no longer closing your drawer for you.
Yeah.
And then I realized my drawer was always open.
It's like the inside joke now.
But here's the thing.
Every day, he leaves it wide open.
I think she sabotages me.
No, I don't.
And opens it on purpose to just make a point.
But I don't know.
I don't.
I don't do that.
Because it bugs me so bad.
We fight about that a lot.
We do fight about that.
But honestly, I feel like years ago, we used to fight about, like, things all the time.
Like, really get into, like, big arguments.
But I feel like for the past almost two years, we've been really good...
I honestly don't know the last time we've actually got in a fight with each other.
Yeah.
Like, not...
When we say fight, we mean, like...
Where we're, like, mad.
Yeah.
Like, it's just, like, an inside joke.
But...
But of course, like, we, like, argue about stuff all the time.
Like, we argue kind of, I guess.
But, like, we don't...
Like, I don't know.
I couldn't say that we really, like, fight.
I know.
That's what I'm saying.
Like...
My parents fought a lot growing up.
But my family is very, like, vocal about things.
Like, there is no, like, quiet arguments.
It's, like, the louder you talk in my family, you think you're winning.
So, like, my mom and dad had those kind of fights.
So, me and Ashley don't have those fights.
No.
But we do, like, argue.
Yeah.
Like, any couple, I guess, would.
Something I will say.
I feel like I'm the one to get...
I'm the first one to get upset, usually.
Like, I'll be the one that's, like, annoyed.
Okay?
But he is the biggest, like, peacemaker.
He always comes in and is, like...
After five minutes, like, let's say I'm annoyed at something.
And within five minutes, he's, like, okay, I can't do this.
Like, we can't be mad at each other.
We just, like...
I don't know.
We're best friends.
I'll shut the drawer.
I'm sorry.
It's really hard for us to...
It's very hard for us to stay mad at each other.
I will say that.
Or mom.
Okay.
This is taking too long.
We need to go faster with our answers.
Okay.
Do you have any marriage tips with having children in the mix?
One of the things that, like, caused a lot of problems in my family growing up, and I'm
just, like, talking from experience, is to, like, vocally and fight and, like, to be
loud and for mom and dad to fight in front of the kids and stuff and talk about, like,
personal things in front of the kids.
I don't think you should hide everything from your children.
But I also think there are some things that are best left said behind closed doors, you
know?
Like, if you're going to argue and you're going to talk about certain things, like,
finances or stuff like that, there's no need to put the stress on the shoulder of the children.
Kids will pick up on that stuff and...
Yeah, like, I grew up because everything was very vocal in my family and my family was
very poor, I guess you could say.
And, like, less fortunate.
And we always knew that.
Like, I always knew when my mom couldn't pay the bills or my dad or my dad was struggling
with a job or stuff like that.
So, it put, like, a lot of stress on the kids in a way that it shouldn't have.
And I'm not being critical of my parents or anything, but I just, I think that it would
have been better left said behind closed doors.
I think another tip would be to always make sure, like, we make sure we sleep in the same
bed every single night.
Now, that might sound like something stupid, but for literally, like, a whole year or two
in the different houses we've lived, one of us has always been out of the room, like,
sleeping with one of the kids or downstairs.
Yeah, like, it would make an excuse to, like, well, the kids need me to fall asleep.
Yeah.
So, we've noticed, like, our marriage has strengthened a lot from making that, like,
a rule.
And, again, that sounds kind of silly, but, yeah, that's another tip.
I feel like, also, last tip, the most important thing you probably could do is to love your
spouse.
And when your kids see that you love your spouse or your significant other or whatever,
that's the most important thing is to love your wife or to love your husband and show
that love in front of your children.
I like that.
Because it lets them know.
That's good.
Next.
I knew this question was coming, and it was probably the most asked question, and that
is, are you going to have more kids?
Yes, we will.
Okay.
So, listen.
We decided yes.
Listen.
Yes.
Listen, Linda.
Listen.
I was, like, so done after Milo.
Like, I was, like, three is good.
And then we had Ezra, and I was, like, so done after Ezra.
But, honestly, I would say within the last couple of months, I've had this, like, really
strong desire to have at least one more.
So, I think we'll have.
No, I'm saying one more.
Okay.
Shut up.
Another question was, do you guys want a girl?
Okay.
I've also always said, like, I'm so glad I have all boys.
But, again, I feel like recently I've been like, oh, a little girl.
He's always wanted a daughter.
Like, always.
Like, after we found out Ezra was a boy, he's like, we're having another one.
Like, we have to try for a girl.
And I was like, nope, we're done.
But, I don't know what's going on.
And so, if we did have another baby, and it was a boy, we'd be super happy with that.
I don't know what's in the water here, but.
We don't.
The Hughes's don't know how to make girls.
We'll just say that.
Someone asked how Thomas's dad is doing.
So, do you want to answer that one?
He's doing good.
We went up to University of Utah Hospital to visit him.
And he recovered really fast.
They had, like, a surgery to clear the blood clot.
That's what a stroke is.
Yeah.
Pretty much.
And then he got in another motorcycle accident and broke his face.
Yeah.
And his arm and his elbow or something.
That's the third motorcycle accident he's been in.
Yeah.
My dad, I don't know, dude.
Like, growing up, my dad never got injured like that.
And then all of a sudden, he's just living this, like, wild, adventurous lifestyle, I guess.
I don't know.
He's got, like, a brand new Harley he drives around and no helmet.
And I don't know, dude.
My dad.
My dad is.
Maybe one day you guys will meet my dad.
And I'll have a little interview.
But yes, my dad's doing good.
Have you ever been to Ireland?
I have not.
I have been to Dublin.
And I've been over to the other side of Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher.
And I went over there to fight for Team USA.
And it was probably the best vacation I've ever been on.
He tells me about it all the time.
How clean it is.
One of the prettiest countries I've ever been to.
And very clean.
I will also say this.
Every time we're, like, checking out at, like, a grocery store or, like, 7-Eleven or a gas station,
he always says, Ireland wouldn't have that in their store.
Okay.
Ireland wouldn't have that.
This is what I noticed about Ireland.
Your gas stations, like, our gas stations here are, like, fountain sodas, chips, candy.
I mean, like, think when you check out.
There's no food that makes you overweight.
Right there.
Like, that people love.
I love.
You, like, grab a bag of M&M's.
You don't have that, really, in Ireland.
Maybe I just was in the wrong spot.
But, like, when I went in there, they had, like, canned beans and vegetables for sale.
It was a good country.
You know, your gas was expensive as all get out.
But other than that, it was really nice and clean.
It was great.
I'm a fan of, like, and their sodas are all in glass.
It's glass bottles.
Oh, that's crazy.
I don't know where I was at.
That's how it was.
He's like, well, hopefully that's, like, everywhere.
Okay.
Another one is, what is your favorite and least part about vlogging?
I would say my personal favorite is looking back, like, that we have this footage.
Yeah, I agree.
We, like, every once in a while, we'll go and find an old vlog and then we start, like,
binge watching them.
Like, oh my gosh, I don't remember the kids, like, doing this or saying this or that they
used to do this.
And so.
Or that they sound, their voices sounded like that.
I didn't even know their voices were that cute.
If you go back to our first vlogs, you will die.
Anyway, that's my.
Least favorite.
Favorite.
Editing.
No one likes to edit.
Yeah, it's time consuming.
Cut the clip, split the clip.
We're really good at, like, we actually are pretty consistent at vlogging.
It's the, we let it, like, pile up on.
Yeah, we probably have a few hundred vlogs on memory cards that we never.
Yeah, that we've never uploaded.
You guys have never seen.
And if we don't, if we never edit them, then we never even see them.
So, it's like.
They're, like, locked away.
I don't know.
Yeah.
I mentioned this in our last video.
So, it was, are you almost done with your renovations?
We have our master bathroom.
We have the laundry room and the toy room.
Are, like, really the only rooms we haven't done at all.
Like, we haven't painted.
We haven't.
We have new carpet and the toy room.
But, yeah.
Basically, everything else.
And then, just, kind of, things on the outside.
But, yeah.
We've just been, like.
I, because I know Ashley wants me to do it.
Yeah.
This is where we're getting at.
And he's busy.
And I'm busy.
Alright, people.
So, just hold your horses.
And I'll get to it.
Okay.
Is Milo's headstone done?
If not, what are you planning to do?
No, it's still in the same condition as it was.
We need to get Ezra's name on the back.
And it needs to be fully installed.
And it needs to be buffed.
But.
Sealed.
Yeah, sealed.
I don't know.
I think, technically, I could seal it.
I bet if I looked up some videos on how to do it, I could get over there.
You're just going to go etch Ezra's name in it.
But, no.
It's not done yet.
We have had people offer to go and fix it.
We've had companies offer to redo the whole thing for free.
Yeah.
But, I just don't want to go through.
I don't even want to go through.
I think that's what it's been.
It was such an ordeal.
Such a terrible experience.
We're just grateful it's there.
That there's something there.
It's got his name, and his death day, and the boys' names, and our names.
He has the wrong date on some of the stuff.
But, whatever.
What are the boys' middle names?
Simon, Eli, and Cohen James.
And Ezra Van.
And Milo Tai.
Milo Tai.
Those are all so random and different, aren't they?
Okay.
How did you start Keto?
What do you need in a day to stay in Keto?
That's for Thomas' question.
Keto is something that you guys, honestly, go jump on a YouTube video from Dr. Eric Berg,
and he will teach you the way.
Yes.
Dr. Berg.
He just breaks it down.
B-E-R-G.
Yes.
Okay.
Dr. Eric Berg.
E-R-I-C-B-E-R-G.
Go look up some of his videos, and they're really helpful, you guys.
There's so much to know about Keto, but it's also very basic and simple.
Yeah.
Oh!
That means our chairs are here.
I think...
Okay, we're about to run out of memory.
I know it.
So, we have probably two more questions we can ask real fast.
Okay.
So, how did you and Thomas meet?
Well...
Well, long story short, I was kicking it with my buddies over in South Ogden.
We were 16.
We were 16 years old.
You were barely 16.
My best friend at the time was taking me to hang out to meet up with a group of people
from a different school who was Ashley.
She was kind of, like, dating him.
Like, they weren't, like, boyfriend and girlfriend and all, but they were hanging out and going
to dates.
My best friend was.
Well, I saw Ashley.
Ashley saw me.
I tried to, like...
I was, like, jealous.
I was being rude.
I was, like, let's go.
Let's go.
Because I actually had a different girl I was going to go hang out with.
So, I made that as an excuse to get away from her because she was so pretty that I was,
like, I'm so jealous of my friend.
Well...
I didn't like him.
I was, like, dude, who's this kid trying to make us...
The Earth, the stars, and the planet aligned.
They broke up.
In swoops, Thomas.
In swoops.
Basically, he swooped.
He really did.
I disagree.
And then we became, like, really good friends.
And then, well, for, like, three days.
And then we were, like, let's date.
Someone also asked, do the boys remember Milo?
Okay, this is really...
You would kind of think that they wouldn't because they were two when he died.
But it is very strange to actually, like, how much they remember him.
Yeah, they remember a lot.
They talk about him literally every day.
They pray every night and ask, please bring Milo back to us.
They say that in their prayer every night.
Or that he can watch over them.
I also think it's because we have so many pictures of Milo.
And we have, like, videos of him.
And we talk about him.
And we talk about him a lot.
So, it keeps him, like, fresh in their mind.
So, they're always, like...
And we don't, like, just dwell on it.
But I'm saying, like, we do have things that are all around the house about Milo.
Yeah, and we'll say, oh, that's Milo.
Or, you know.
I think it keeps it, like, fresh in their brain.
So, they can remember it.
Yeah.
It's just a big part of our life.
Oh, this one was good.
What are some of Thomas' most scary injuries?
Now, you might be surprised.
He's never broken anything.
Nothing.
Never broken.
Technically, even with my leg.
Like, that's...
My legs are probably, like...
That was probably one of the scariest.
I would say, for me, the scariest injury he's ever had was a black eye.
I know that sounds stupid, but he got a black eye that was so bad, we thought, like, there's
no way he's gonna have vision after this.
Like, it was completely black.
It was so swollen.
It was, like, his whole face.
He looked...
You wouldn't even know it was Thomas.
It was so scary.
I looked like Quasimodo.
So, that was probably...
I couldn't see out of his eye for, like, three months.
And this was when he was on Team USA, who was going to...
Was this right before Ireland?
I was getting ready to go to Ireland to train and had a training injury, and the inside
of my eye was so swollen that it pushed my eye off access, so everything was always blurry.
So, I ended up having to just tape over my eye so I didn't look out of this eye, because
it caused my vision to be double.
That was so scary.
If we can find a picture, I'll insert it here, but if not, then you'll just have to use your
imagination.
Where is Russ?
Okay.
Russ got a job with my brother.
My brother hired him over in Idaho, so he's been living up in Idaho, working at some plant,
doing scaffolding.
So, I don't...
We don't...
Other than that, we don't really know.
We don't really know.
Okay, we got a lot of questions about how we tell the twins apart.
Okay, this is not very helpful, but we just, like, they don't look the same to us.
I don't know.
I don't know how else to say it.
As, like, brand newborns, we even then could tell them apart, even though they're very
identical.
Simon did have a freckle slash mole on his leg.
So, I mean, that's one thing we tell people that is the difference, but literally from
the back of their head, a mile away, I know which kid it is.
And when they're talking, I can tell which kid's in the...
I grew up with twin little brothers, and they're identical as much as I'm in a corner, and it
wasn't hard for me either.
I think just when you know someone, you just know.
It's weird.
When they're your kids or they're in your family, it's like night and day.
It's almost like telling a boy from a girl.
You can just tell them apart.
But it is hard.
Like, I can't tell other kids' twins apart, and I can't tell...
For a while, I didn't know, like, John and Carrie.
I was like, I don't know.
It took me a little while to finally, like, see the difference, but I don't know.
There's not really...
I think unless they're your own or they're in your family, it's kind of hard to tell
them.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, I see that we are, like, two seconds away from running out.
This video will be so long.
We can't answer all of the questions, but we did our best.
It's dying right now.
Okay, guys.
Thank you guys so much for watching.
We'll get another Q&A out to you soon.
Bye!
