Lost Cars of the 1980s - Chevrolet Citation

Chevrolet is one of the most well-known and famous American automakers, with a product portfolio that covers different sectors. The Bowtie Brand, formed in 1917 by William C. Durant and Louis Chevrolet, has accomplished the founders' ambition of becoming the greatest American automobile corporation in the world.

Chevrolet has continued to surprise consumers and enthusiasts with its unique sedan, truck, SUV, crossover, and van models, confirming its status as the crown jewel in GM's dynasty.

Between 1980 and 1985, Chevrolet produced the small Citation to replace the Chevrolet Nova type. As part of GM's growth goal, the Chevrolet Citation intended to meet the front-wheel-drive system needs that most consumers desired at the time. Despite taking the risk, Chevrolet Citation did not design this car to survive.

Customers found it difficult to overlook the car's shortcomings, which were common in American vehicles. The Chevrolet Citation also featured significant torque steer, which caused spin-outs, poor build quality, and rear brakes that periodically froze up under regular braking. Despite the fact that the Citation II was developed as an improvement, unfavorable press had already harmed this model's image.
