The new Continental Mark III coupe was a smash hit at its debut in 1969. This video will show you some strangest features of the 1969-71 Lincoln Mark III (460-44V Engine)
Lincoln marketed the Continental Mark III, a personal luxury car, from 1969 to 1971. From 1956 to 1957, Ford Motor Company's flagship automobile was the Mark III, named after the Continental Mark II.
The Mark III, offered as a two-door hardtop coupe, was remarkable for its disguised headlights, fake rear spare-tire trunk bulge reminiscent of the Mark II, and upright grill evocative of the Rolls-Royce Pantheon grill — so named after the famous Roman Temple.
The Continental Mark III was meant to compete directly with the Cadillac Eldorado, initiating a three-decade market rivalry between the Mark series and the Eldorado.
The Continental Mark III was built alongside the Thunderbird and the Lincoln Continental at Ford's Wixom Assembly Plant in Wixom, Michigan. The Continental Mark IV replaced the Mark III in 1972, coinciding with the redesign of the Thunderbird.
