THRIFT STORE MAKEOVER/ Fall Inspiration

Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. For those of you who have been here for a while, you probably know I broke my vlog camera, so I am doing this with my phone because I wanted to get a video up. So, no excuses, I wanted to show you guys a few things I found at the thrift store. Oh, hey kitty, hey kitty. I wanted to show you guys a few things I picked up today at the thrift store, and I wanted to do like just a fall kind of thrift store haul and makeover. So this first thing that I found, I think it's the cutest thing. These little leaves are made out of wood, like carved out of a tree, and then there's little acorns. So I'm just gonna put a candle in this, and I think that's it, I'm not gonna do anything to that. But I have a few ideas of what I'm gonna do with the rest of this stuff. So this pumpkin I picked up for $3. I'm going to paint that. I found this for $1.50, and I do have an idea. I think I'm gonna turn this into like a potion glass thing. I found this for a dollar. I'm going to turn this just into like a little fall sign. I'm not sure what word I'm gonna put in here, but something besides that. And then I found these cute little books, and I thought they were perfect to make a spell book with. They were 75 cents a piece. And then this gem of a piece, I actually, technically you could say I thrifted it, because I found it off Facebook Marketplace. I was searching for an old propane tank, and I got it for I believe $7. If you have an old propane tank that looks like this, then you can just do this for free. And so I'll show you guys what my plans are. But this is actually something I was looking for to display on my porch. So if you wanna see all the fun things I turn this into, then just keep watching. Okay, so just starting out with these little spell books, I am taking like a yellow-orange color, and I will be painting the books this color. I'm using these colors to try and match the color of the printout. I thought I'd film myself cutting out the printable. Obviously, I must not have. So I will show you guys that, and I will also have it linked below. So if you guys wanna use the same printout that you can. So here I am just painting just kind of the outer part of the book. The printout will obviously cover the majority of it. ♪ Here we'll fix these mistakes ♪ So using some Mod Podge, that's how I will be attaching the printouts. And these are really cute. This is the cat transformation and life potion from Hocus Pocus. So if you're familiar with that show, you will be familiar with this little spell. After I get these stuck on and they're a little bit dry, I will then be going back over the top and doing a full coat of the Mod Podge over the top. ♪ Through life and to death ♪ And here's how these turned out. I think they are super cute, especially for 75 cents. I'm pretty sure that they have these at Hobby Lobby. So if you do wanna recreate these, you definitely can do that for a very inexpensive price. Next, I will be moving on to this little potion bottle. And this is something else I know Dollar Tree carries. This jar was just bigger than the ones I typically see at Dollar Tree. So you can definitely, again, get the same look, just go into Dollar Tree. So I'm using a matte primer spray paint. And while I have the spray paint out, I will just be spray painting this pumpkin because I wanted it to have a black undercoat. ♪ Words like little knives ♪ Again, I will have this printout also linked below. And this is the deadly night shade. I thought this was really cute. This is from Nightmare Before Christmas. So I probably will be going to Dollar Tree and getting two more jars so that I can use all three of these little printouts. ♪ Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh ♪ ♪ So done with you ♪ ♪ I thought you'd change ♪ Okay, now with this pumpkin, I had a few different ideas. I first thought maybe I'll do this weird yellow orange color. I didn't like that so I'm just going over with a light tan and it's giving it kind of a metallic look which is kind of what I wanted to go for anyway. I do have a metallic pumpkin I'm putting on my porch so I thought this would match it and it's gonna look really cute next to it. So I'm wiping off a lot of the excess and then giving it a really light coat of ivory paint. The leaves candle from Bath and Body Works is literally my favorite smell in the entire world. I buy at least 20 candles every fall so that they last me all year. So I thought it would be appropriate to put the leaves candle inside of this little holder and this will definitely be my little go-to candle holder for this specific candle. Okay next one I'm just painting the inside of this ivory. I love the black but I needed to get the words covered and what I decided to do was to actually glue some little bats in here and so I needed it to be a different color than black. So I just kind of I don't even know what I did I just kind of smeared some black and some ivory paint in there and then just using some craft paper I cut out some bats and I folded them so that they would be 3D and then I just hot-glued them into this little frame. Okay so before I get started on this next one I want to just share where this inspiration came from and if you are familiar with Liz Marie Galvin on Instagram she has the cutest little farmhouse and a few years ago I saw her post this picture of her front porch and I remember thinking what the heck is that like I thought it might be a propane tank wasn't quite sure and then last year I'm like I'm pretty sure that's a propane tank I got to figure this out because that just made the whole front porch look so cute. So I was on the hunt this summer looking for a really old rustic propane tank and I think that they probably cut the jack-o'-lantern out. It looks like it's cut out but I decided I was just going to paint it because then I could do it myself. Using some just black craft paint that's all I'm doing here I just threw this little stencil and then that way I could get the same exact shape for both eyes and then the nose and the mouth I completely winged and I just looked at her picture so that was the inspiration for this specific jack-o'-lantern. There's tons of them that you guys could copy but I feel like this is such a cute thing you could do. You probably have an old propane tank laying around the house anyway and so this would be a really cute way and very cheap way to spruce up your front porch this fall. All right so all we're gonna do now is cut this top part off. What is that? It's a grinder. Okay if you don't have one of these it's fine but they're like 40 bucks. This makes it look less propane-y.
