What's up Team Buckhouse, Jonathan Buckhouse here,
and today I'm gonna give you five pieces of equipment
that are kind of overhyped, overrated, unneeded.
If you're just getting into snowboarding,
don't worry about these tools.
Just go snowboard and have some fun.
The first piece of gear,
and this is gonna save you guys a ton of money.
You do not need an overpriced,
over ridiculous pair of Oakley goggles,
any goggles that are overpriced.
Go to the link in the description,
Kuno Optics $70 goggles.
They're the goggles I ride all the time.
Yes, I'm wearing sunglasses right now,
but it's also 65 degrees.
But the Kuno Optics are $70 goggles.
They're incredible, super high quality lens,
magnetic lens, you can swap them out super easy.
Don't waste a bunch of money that you could spend
on a lift ticket or a season pass on the goggles,
because the goggles won't make you a better snowboarder.
Snowboarding will make you a better snowboarder.
Maybe you can do a snowboard trip
or go to one more cool resort that has like a better park
because you didn't buy an overpriced pair of goggles.
Item number two is a snowboard tool.
You don't need to snag that thing.
All of the ski resorts have tuning benches.
Yes, it is convenient to have one in your pocket or whatever
and you can quickly tighten up your gear and whatnot,
but you don't have to have it on the top
of almost every chairlift or at the bottom.
They have a snowboard bench
and you can fix up your stuff for free on the mountain.
You don't have to spend that money on a snowboard tool.
But if you do need a snowboard tool,
I have one linked in the description.
Stomp pads.
It's like a false confidence.
If you're in the right body position,
if you are unloading the chairlift correctly,
you don't need a stomp pad.
Do they help?
Yes, but I've ridden years without a stomp pad.
So don't freak out and think you gotta go spend $20
on that banana looking stomp pad at Zoomies.
You don't need to do that.
Save the money, don't buy a stomp pad,
but do know that soon I'm hoping to release stomp pads
for anyone that likes stomp pads.
There is a difference between like need and want and like.
You don't need it.
If you want one, that's fine.
Do you like them?
Does it help?
Sure.
Okay, what have we got?
So we got stomp pad.
Bonus item.
Now this is not like,
some people don't know this is a real thing,
but some people do.
I'm gonna throw in snowboard leashes.
That's not needed at all.
I know some people that ride the Bern Stepons
want a snowboard leash.
And if you are interested in the Bern Stepons,
check out my review right there.
But you don't need a snowboard leash.
Some people might try to upsell you to get one
or depending on the state you live in,
they have signs that are like leash laws in effect,
but you don't need those.
Don't get a snowboard leash, save the money.
And unless you have to, have to, have to, have to,
have to get one, which is not the case anymore.
I know when I first started snowboarding,
you had to have a leash.
That's not the case anymore.
And that one was just a bonus.
Number four, a powder snowboard.
Why do you need that thing if you got a normal snowboard?
Powder snowboards, they do help.
They're fun.
It's different, but it's not a need.
It's overhyped.
Everyone's riding around now with a fishtail powder board,
everything like that.
You can't ollie really if you've got a fishtail,
but if you're riding deep powder,
don't be like, ah, if I had a powder board,
I'd be riding this better or this or that.
Like any snowboard you can rip.
It's your ability.
Don't think this snowboard is holding you back
from absolutely tearing up powder.
And then don't have the pressure of being like,
yo, I have to buy the Orca whatever, blah, blah, blah.
I'd spend $700 to get a powder snowboard.
The snowboard you're on right now will tear up powder.
I promise you that.
So go rip up some powder.
And the last item that's overhyped,
unneeded, not really necessary is a snowboard bag.
Unless you're going on snowboard trips.
I have seen so many friends that are like driving
from Colorado Springs,
which is like a two and a half hour drive.
Put their snowboard in their snowboard bag
to drive up to the mountain.
And that's the only thing in there.
Leave the bag at home.
You don't need your snowboard bag.
They are super handy if you are traveling,
getting on a plane, everything like that.
But if you're just driving to the resort,
just throw your snowboard in the car.
You don't have to bag it up, guys.
That being said, if you need a snowboard bag
or any of my gear, the gloves, the helmet, goggles,
all of it, guys, it's all linked in the description.
But those are just five items
that you can save your money on
and that you can hopefully buy a season pass
by not purchasing those right off the bat
to get better at snowboarding.
Because the only way to get better at snowboarding
is hitting that subscribe button to this channel.
Because my goal is to help you
become the best snowboarders possible.
But that was a joke, obviously.
Time on snow.
That's the only thing that's going to make you
a better snowboarder.
So try to get on your snowboard as much as possible
and you will become a better snowboarder.
That being said, if this video helped you
or if you liked it, if you like this style of video,
smash that like button.
It lets me know I should keep making the videos like this.
But also, it lets other people find the videos.
The more people find the videos,
the more people save money,
the more people buy season passes,
the better for the industry.
So hit that subscribe button or like button.
And of course, we can't end the video
without plugging my merch
because it's how I do this for a living.
So if you guys want to support the dream
but also get a sticker
that comes with guaranteed compliments,
get an evolution sticker.
We have them in a bunch of other colors.
It's really sick.
And yeah, they're linked in the description
as well as any of my hoodies, T-shirts, long sleeves.
All the merch is in the description.
If you do snag it, tag me on my Instagram
and I'll give you guys gear and sticker shout outs.
And then just follow the Instagram for bonus extra content.
A lot of cool stuff goes down on Instagram and my TikTok.
You know, it's a multi-platform world now.
Just follow me on everything.
Just search my name.
I keep plugging stuff for days,
but I'm going to end it here, guys.
So thank you so much for shredding with me today,
checking out gear with me today.
And as always, thanks for watching.
Keep evolving.
We'll see you guys tomorrow with another video.
