Barrio Chino. Different location, same goodies. Back at my favorite place.
Cathedral. Still beautiful. Of the ruins. National palace. It's like a protest. We just got a picture
of beer. What's up y'all? Interesting here. If you're a returning viewer or subscriber,
thanks so much for supporting the channel. If you're new here, I'm Interesting. I quit my job
in 2021 to travel and eat full-time. Today we're checking out Centro, Mexico City's cultural and
historic district. Stay tuned till the end of the video to check out this super cool modern
art museum we stumbled upon. About 8.30, day four. Heading to Centro. Gonna get some breakfast slash
brunch at El Cardinal. As long as they're open, no matter what, no changes there. So yeah,
stay tuned. We're gonna take a different path than last time. See some different stuff and
hopefully do some different things from last time. Let's head to Centro.
Alright, we're in Centro. Gonna try to throw our name on at El Cardinal and if there's a long line,
as usual, gonna hit the bakery. And I don't know the exact boundaries of Chinatown but
we're on the edge or near it or in it. I'll show you. Barrio Chino. And it smells like
Chinese food. Smells great. Alright, we're actually in Chinatown. Showed you the sign. You
can see the lanterns there. If you get smelled through the camera, we're getting orange chicken
vibes. Still gonna have Mexican breakfast but might need to run back. Back at Pasteleria Ideal.
This is actually a different location. Let's pop in real quick. Different location, same goodies.
Concha season. The pastries just don't end. I feel like we're in a vault of just pastry. Back
at Pirate's Burger. Then got the Falcone Symphony. So as you can see by the architecture changing,
we're getting into the thick of Centro Historica. About a block or three away from El Cardinal.
Throw our name down and then maybe walk around. El Rey del Pavo. We went here in my last video.
I'll throw the card in if you want to check it out. A rare sight. It's not packed. Alright,
we are here at El Cardinal and in a strange twist, there's no wait. Let's head in.
Oh, it's so warm. So pro tip if you're with two or three people, one cup costs three dollars
and it's 200 milliliters. The pitcher is a liter and it's nine dollars. So
five cups for the price of actually cheaper than three. If you don't care about saving money,
sorry. Happy Sunday. And my mom failed to tell me that is hot as ----. My tongue is fucked.
Everyone else is better at not burning their mouth. This is literally why I came to Mexico City.
She said this is literally why I came to Mexico City. Had nothing to do with visiting her son.
All right, my tongue is feeling better. My language will improve. Sorry about the bleep.
We're about to order. We'll get some food coming out.
If you saw my last Centro video, you know how I feel about this. I'll make sure to get that ASMR
crunch on here now that I got the microphone. We just ordered. I don't want to spoil what we got.
We've got some repeats, something new. I'll talk it through when we get out there. Let me know in
the comments either if you've been here and what you've ordered or what you think the best looking
thing we ordered is. See you soon. So if you look at this, you see a lot of foam. And if you can see
in here, I don't want to touch it. That thing's basically aerating it and just adding air. So
you're getting that lightness. And I had no idea what that did, but a lot of nice foam there.
We just got offered some nata or some cream. I think my mom said this is the best roll she's
ever had. I wouldn't argue with her because I think it is incredible. Not getting the crunch yet
because I'm wearing the headphone, but we'll get it soon. I promise. All right, let's try.
The cream is interesting. Not what I expected. It's pretty light, but it's
a little sweet. You've got to try it. It's interesting. And then alone, it's excellent.
Let's do one more with cream. So this texture is how I eat my cottage cheese, so it's not that
weird to me. The bread's fantastic. It's nice to try the nata or the cream, something new.
I'll save the rest of my bread for my food, but...
Getting the dishes out. There's Yuji's omelette. There's her corn cake or her omelette and her
frijoles. We'll party here shortly. What I wanted. These are the cochinita pepio,
enchiladas, the orange sauce I wanted. I think Yuji's frijoles. Perfecto, gracias. And then the
skirt steak or arrochada with chilequiles. And then some beans, cotija cheese and some chips.
And then we've got the tortilla. Oh, there's no way you can see, huh? There's a nice tortilla.
I'll see what I can do here. Get some beans, get some chilequile. Here we go. Everything's super
good. Beans, sauce on the chips. Chips look a little soggy, but we've got different texture.
The meat's good, but I'll come back to that. This is my go-to. Love it. I'll let the other
folks eat now. All right, my mom just spit out the skirt steak, so you might not want to order that.
Just the more you know. We're hoping my mom doesn't hate this.
Pretty sure she was going to say it was good no matter what, but we'll see. We'll come back.
Yeah, this is bomb. I love the, there's a lot of lettuce on it. Sauce is great.
Meat's tender, but yeah, the sauce and the lettuce for me I like a lot.
I think besides the arrochada chilequiles, this is the thing I would probably get.
The lengua enchiladas are good too, but I like this one.
This is much more the typical line you're going to see at El Cardinal. 25, 30 people
waiting to get their food in. All right, ate way too much at El Cardinal. We're having issues
entering the Zocalo. It's fenced off and there's a lot of police, so we'll figure it out. Not sure
what's going on. Yeah, stage ahead is set up or something. A lot more police setup than usual,
but it looks like we can enter. Kind of cramps the vibe though. The Torre Latinoamerica in the
background, and then this is fenced off. Police with riot shields. So behind me you could see
the cathedral there. You also see all these fences around, and then in what was the empty square
there, they're setting up the ice rink, or I've seen like a United Nations thing there, but it is
very strange that everything is kind of closed off. If you want to see an open square and people
you know walking around as usual, please check out my other Centro video, but we'll walk around.
We'll still try to see the ruins, we'll see the Palace of Fine Arts later, we'll hit some rooftops,
so stay with us. Not gonna lie, the cathedral, still beautiful. And then I wish it was a little
windier. Arguably the largest Mexican flag in the world, but without the wind it's kind of just there.
So you can kind of see there on the right it's closed there to enter, which means we can't enter
here. Again you can see the cathedral from another angle, and the bottom left you can see the Zocalo,
and then here we are on the outskirts of the ruins, so I'll show you around here.
There is someone giving a tour and talking about excavation. Unfortunately I know basically nothing
about here, but not a bad view of the cathedral from here. And then here, we might go here later
a little rooftop bar with a view of the ruins, so stay tuned for that. And again that building here
on the left, this is El Mayor. It's a restaurant on the right, a bar on the left, might be checking that out.
This is the outside of the National Palace. Kind of feels like it's not open, we didn't bring our
IDs anyway, but at least there's access to this square, and then in the background I think you
can see the edge of the cathedral. So we're in the National Palace, it looks like there's a Chinese
and Korean exhibit. We're in Korea apparently, and then we've got Japan left.
In the courtyard, following the path we're supposed to be on.
Greece and Rome man, we're going all over the world today.
You found this cool uh museum, I guess stumbled upon it while we were sitting down, so gonna go
check it out. Super cool museum, hopefully you're getting this audio and then you can see the
the dome stuff up here. Parque Alameda is like a protest down here. We just got a picture of beer.
This is the bus to the Gaonokostras.
