Women Try the FULL NFL Combine - 225 Bench Press For Reps Dana Linn Bailey, Jennifer Thompson
Blue, 22, wait for it, wait for it, keep going, go, run.
Okay, I'm not that out of breath though.
That's pretty impressive.
Okay, hello my strong, strong friends.
This is a brand new series that I'm doing with you.
It's called Train Like a Pro.
I'm gonna try workouts, lifting or other,
where I try to train like a pro.
Today we're doing the NFL Combine.
I'm gonna go through all of the things
that NFL prospects, I guess,
go through to test their strength, speed, agility,
power, all that jazz.
And I'll take you guys along with me.
That was just a warmup.
I was just messing around.
I gotta get ready for my 40.
I'm most nervous for the 40, but I think we got it.
How are you feeling, Sophia?
I'm all right.
You weren't far behind me.
Don't make fun of me, because I'm not,
okay, people ask all the time
what my athletic background is.
We were just talking about it a little bit.
I played basketball in college.
I ran cross country in college.
Not the most quick, definitely not the most quick.
Football probably wouldn't have been my sport.
Had to have been an option.
But today we're gonna see,
and you guys let me know in the comments what you think
before you continue on with this video.
Subscribe to my channel if you're not already,
and give this video a like if you like any part of it,
or if you thought that was pretty damn fast.
And if you didn't think it was fast,
Sophia's gonna play it again in hyperspeed.
We're gonna warm up,
because that cold run was a little dangerous.
Felt my hamstring.
We're gonna do some basic warm-up stuff.
There's been a lot of powerlifters lately
talking about warming up,
and negatively talking about warming up
and saying that maybe people warm up too much.
I say, the higher your intensity,
the longer your warm-up should be.
I'm gonna do an all-out sprint for 40 meters.
High intensity, very low duration of training.
So I'm gonna warm up more than I would had I ran a 5K.
Does that make sense?
You know, I'd like to actually see
if I beat anyone who's ever done the combine at any year.
I'd be happy with that.
Beat the number one losers, or number last losers,
of some of the best athletes in the world?
I'll take it.
The combine results are kind of confusing.
There were some people hadn't scored for certain exercises,
and the bench one is probably one
that I can most easily compare to mine.
So I'm gonna tap out for the bench portion of it.
We'll talk about that a little bit later.
The highest number that I saw last year
for benching 225 reps was 34 reps.
Lowest, around lowest, was 11.
And I think my tag team partner will beat that.
All right, what do you guys think?
Am I ready?
Yeah, warm.
I'm at 40, is this a good?
It's like, what's his name?
I don't know any football player's name.
One of them is just like warming up
like this before the game.
All right, 40, let's do it, I'm ready.
All right, first thing we're gonna do is a 40-yard dash.
I tried this before,
I remember when I talked about doing a WWE tryout.
Someone told me when I was prepping for that
they were gonna test my 40 time.
They didn't, that was a complete lie.
But my 40 time was like 10 seconds or something.
I must've been not keeping good track.
10 seconds, for reference, is very, very long.
It shouldn't take you that long to run 40 yards.
So yeah, let's see if I can beat 10 seconds.
Ready?
Three, two, one, go.
Push.
Sub-seven.
Shut up, really?
Six, nine, eight.
I really can't go much faster than that.
I think you can.
All right, let's try to beat it.
Three, two, one, go.
It was one of the hundreds.
Ah!
Show.
Six, nine, eight.
I have a feeling I'm gonna keep getting worse.
Sub-seven, I'll take it.
Everybody, this is Sophia.
She's an unbelievable athlete
and also usually the woman behind the camera.
So now you can see her 40 times.
Maybe like 835.
Oh, she, wow.
She really thinks she's got something.
Let's see.
She didn't know what her job entailed
when she applied for the position.
All right, Ryan's gonna give you your call.
Three, two, one, go.
Wow.
Shut up, stop it.
What the heck?
All right, guys, I know you just met Sophia,
but sadly, she's off the team.
I can't be having my person running the camera
more athletic than me, you know what I'm saying?
See ya.
Just kidding, she can join.
I'm staying.
Try and kick me out.
All right, Ryan, you're next.
I can't run.
What do you mean?
I got a bum hip.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
So Ryan's gonna do the vertical jump with me.
What'd you think about that?
How you feeling?
It's kind of fun, right?
Sometimes, like once.
Yeah, once.
Every couple months.
Should we tell them?
We are actually on an indoor soccer field.
We believe it's 40 yards.
There's marks here,
but I think it's actually closer to 35.
So, sorry.
We'll just add like .02 seconds on our time.
That'll even it out for us.
All right, guys, next on the list is the bench press.
My favorite part of it.
Although, sadly, I cannot bench press 225 for reps.
So, the test in the NFL Combine is to bench 225
for as many reps as possible.
And apparently, the coaches are looking for endurance
at that weight to test power.
So, I cannot do that.
Maybe I'll bench 135 for reps and see how many I can do.
But I do have a friend who can bench 225 for reps.
So, we're gonna go hang out with her
at the Warhouse Gym right now.
Hey, guys.
We're in Reading, Pennsylvania at the Warhouse Gym
with the one and only Jennifer Thompson.
She's the IPF World Champion, has been called.
I think she's actually, not even has been called.
She's literally the best bench presser in the world
that has ever existed, ever, in all time.
Yeah?
So, Jen is gonna do the bench press portion
of the NFL Combine.
She's gonna rep out 225 pounds.
Did you guys see that?
Because that was pretty unbelievable.
Be sure, before I go back to the turf
and do some more embarrassing runs and jumps and stuff,
be sure to follow Dana Lynn Bailey and Jennifer Thompson
on the Grams and on the YouTubes
because they're both amazing.
So, our scores, Jen Thompson was the only one
who could successfully do 225
because she was unbelievable.
Thanks to both of them for joining in
on my Combine adventure.
All right, back to the rest of the event.
Welcome back.
We're back at the Sports Center.
Now, we're gonna do the 5-10-5 shuttle run.
So, this is to test your lateral explosive,
your change of direction, right?
You need to have that.
I was never good at this part.
I used to run 5Ks.
So, yeah, what I'm gonna do to start in this cone,
I'm gonna touch it, and then I'm gonna run five yards
to that cone over there.
Then I'm gonna run 10 yards to this cone over there,
and they stop the time whenever I pass this cone.
So, I just run through this one.
So, it's two quick change in direction,
and there's no time for me to practice this.
Let's do it.
Three, two, one, go.
It's all right.
I don't have a benchmark for this.
I don't know what's good.
I don't either.
I feel like also cleats versus flats,
you just slide hard on that one.
Without giving myself too many excuses,
we watched a few YouTube videos that were like this.
BuzzFeed did one.
They did not do this event.
And then I just found this guy's channel.
His name's Dockery.
He's pretty funny.
He's very funny.
His girlfriend tried these,
and I'm sure she's very athletic.
She seems like she's athletic,
but they were kind of just ******* around,
and her time was faster than that, for sure, so.
My bad.
What I'm trying to say is that they cheated.
Three, two, and you're on.
It's all right.
Three, two, one, go.
That was slower.
Yeah.
Actually, I'm slow.
I don't think I'm gonna get any faster,
but I'm gonna try one more time.
These kids out here think they're doing something special.
I just gotta show them who's the real boss of this field.
Go.
I'm not getting any faster, am I?
Yeah.
I was faster than the last one.
It was in between your first and your second.
I keep slipping.
I'm trying to go two-hand.
You need cleats.
I need cleats.
That's why.
All right, so there's a couple of other shuttle runs
in the NFL Combine, like a shuttle run, the 510-5.
They do like a three-cone drill.
I think we saw.
We had a good test of my agility in that way,
so we're gonna skip those,
and next, we're gonna do the broad jump.
We're very underprepared and don't have anything to measure,
but we do have these cali rolls
that we wrap around our knees
in the weightlifting and powerlifting world sometimes.
This is how many feet?
90 inches.
90 inches, so.
Seven and a half feet.
We're gonna use, if I can jump 90 inches,
I'll be ******* damn proud of myself.
Middle school, I did the long jump, so.
I just wanna do a triple extension, right?
Yeah.
No catapult.
Catapult.
Seven feet.
Seven and a half.
Oh, hell yeah.
Yo, that's 90 inches, baby.
Whoa.
Whoa!
About like 93 inches.
93 inches?
I'll take it.
Nice.
Pretty consistent.
While you're here,
while you've made a half-length of the video,
what athlete should I do next?
So, the new series is called Train Like a Pro.
Who are we gonna do?
Vote your favorite athlete down below,
and if you have a video of them doing a workout
that specifically you want me to try, let me know.
All right, we're in this beautiful blue room now.
Scene change, and we're gonna try the vertical jump test.
So, these are each half an inch,
so if I get 10, then that means my vertical jump
is five inches, but it's pretty much,
if you've never seen one of these,
you pretty much adjust the height
of the first little flag to be the top of my reach.
So, I'm gonna jump, and I get three tries to do it.
Ready?
Whoa, that was pretty high.
I'm almost off the charts, man.
Okay, so now I just keep those aside,
and I just gotta try and chip away.
You wanna take one more?
Yeah, take one more.
World record, fourth attempt.
That's pretty good stuff.
Okay, 19 and a half.
Ryan has some hip problems, so he can't run,
but he will try the vertical jump.
So, we've adjusted for Ryan.
Yay!
So, it's 26, we got it.
26, and I was 19 and a half.
Ryan's at 27 and a half now.
Sophia, you wanna try?
Yeah.
Yeah?
You want to?
Yeah, do it.
What, do you think you're gonna beat me?
Good luck.
How much is that?
Good try.
Let's see if you can beat the legendary
NFL superstar Meg Squats with your second and third.
Yeah, girl!
I think two.
So, you got an inch.
Yeah!
What's that?
So, 19?
Oh, I'm still down a half.
Aw, loser!
I took a fourth attempt, world record.
Just by precedence, I didn't get anything, so.
Ah!
Swing and a miss!
That's just the difference between.
I think you nicked something.
First, first round draft pick.
First.
First round, second pick.
Not drafted.
Gotta go get a real job.
All right, guys, thank you so much for watching.
I hope you enjoyed watching me try the NFL Combine.
If you ever try it, make sure to tag me on Instagram
so I can check it out and tag your favorite football player
and ask them to be my friend and see what they think.
I hope you guys didn't laugh too hard,
but if you want this new series that I'm gonna try,
it's just an ongoing series,
so I won't make the videos in a row,
but I'll try and come back to try and train like a pro
as often as possible, so if you have any suggestions,
be sure to leave them down in the comments below.
If you haven't already, like this video,
and if you're not subscribed, what's wrong with you?
You could be a strong, strong friend
and get these strong, strong friend socks,
well, for an additional price.
But yeah, join the group.
I make videos every Tuesday and Thursday,
and you can come along and watch them.
I think I wanna try Lindsey Vonn's workout next.
She trains like a beast.
She is, and Olympic Winter Games are coming up,
so might as well try some stuff.
I have never yet skied.
I've only snowboarded, so try some skiing.
Let me know if you guys wanna see that one.
All right, I'll see you in the next one.
Bye!
Is that what they teach you in Irish step dancing school?
