I have a very different video for you today (as you can see haha)! But I thought it would be fun to share a story while I baked with you! And not just any story- but a true crime I heard years ago that blew my mind!🤯
I feel as spooky season is just around the corner that doing more “story times” might be a fun idea! Maybe a ghost story next?👻 Or something along those lines! I’d love to hear what you think in the comments!

Hello friends and happy August 1st.
Can't believe it's August.
I don't know what it is about this month that makes me feel like fall because I
know it's still hotter than sin outside.
Maybe because the word August and autumn, maybe those kind of sound the same.
I don't know what it is, but I'm bringing some fall vibes today and I thought it
would be fun to bake an apple pie.
So that's what we're going to do today.
This is not like a step-by-step tutorial.
I just wanted to make an apple pie and I was looking on Pinterest and I looked up
like the world's best apple pie recipe.
And out of all of the recipes I found, this one definitely looked the best.
So we're going to go with it.
It called for 11 apples.
That's kind of, that's a lot of apples.
So I brought, I brought the apples and I'm going to sit here and carve them all.
Carve, slice.
I'm going to get going on these apples, but I thought while I, this is going to be
hard for me to talk with a knife, huh?
Anyway, I thought while I sat here and sliced up my apples, I would tell you
guys the craziest story I've ever heard.
Now I heard this story years ago when I was on a work trip with Thomas and I was
stuck in a hotel room and I had 2020 on and I heard this story and it is
absolutely insane.
So I thought I'd share it with you guys since I'm kind of going fall vibes.
I thought maybe a scary story to listen to while I'm slicing up my apples would
make this a little more entertaining.
So fair warning, if you don't like murder stories, then maybe don't watch.
So the story is about a woman named Stacy Castor and the story begins on August
22nd, 2005.
This takes place in New York, Syracuse, New York.
We have a Syracuse in Utah too.
So Stacy calls 9-1-1 and reports that her husband David has not left his bedroom
all weekend. It's Monday now. He didn't show up to work.
She's getting worried and they did get into a fight on Friday.
She's just worried something bad happened to him because he was saying some
threatening things like you'll be sorry if you ever leave me and stuff like
that. So she calls the cops,
asks for a wellness check because again she hasn't seen him since Friday and he
will not open the door.
So the cops come to the house and they knock on his door and he doesn't answer.
And so one of the cops breaks the door down and they find him naked on the bed
and he has passed. So Stacy's freaking out.
She's totally beside herself.
She cannot believe that her husband was dead.
So now the cops just want to know who was David Castor. I don't know.
I didn't think this through. Where am I going to, okay,
we're going to put these apples over here.
This is when they realized that David is actually Stacy Castor's second husband.
She's been married before. Stacy also has two daughters,
Ashley and Bree and they were with her first husband. And also side note,
David has a son with his first marriage as well.
Back to August of 2005 the reason David apparently locked himself in the bedroom
was because they got in a fight over their anniversary.
He wanted to take her on like a crazy extensive trip for their anniversary and
they got into a seven hour fight over that. Now on the nightstand,
the detective finds two shot glasses.
One of them has some green liquid in it.
There's also some cranberry juice over to the side,
but there's like a lime green liquid and then they also find antifreeze under the
bed. So by the looks of it, they're thinking, you know,
case closed situation like doesn't look like any foul play.
So that's kind of that. They're not really looking too much into it.
But one of the detectives notices a turkey baster in the garbage can and he
thinks that's a little suspicious.
So he takes it as well as everything around him and he just wants to run some
tests, see if there's fingerprints, just make sure everything checks out.
Another thing that detective found a little bit suspicious was the fact he was
naked because apparently that's really rare to find someone in that state.
So there was just a few things he thought looked a little weird and that's why
he wanted to just double check and make sure.
So the detective sends all of the physical evidence to be tested and within a
few days they find three fingerprints on the shot glass.
All three fingerprints belong to Stacy, not David.
There wasn't one fingerprint of his on the glass.
They also find Stacy's fingerprints on the turkey baster.
They only found David's DNA on the tip of the turkey baster.
That's a little weird. And to make things even stranger,
they found that David had recently changed his will,
took his son out of the will and he left everything to Stacy and her two
daughters, which again, raises some red flags.
David ran his own business and his estate was worth around $300,000 so that was
enough reason to continue checking into this. But right after David died,
Stacy received $50,000 and she basically blew through it and the cops again were
just, you know, they were on her. She didn't know that they were on her,
but they were, they were looking into her.
So the detectives decide they need to once and for all just like figure this out,
make sure that he died the way they think he died,
that all of these random coincidences, like maybe they are just random,
but they want to find out once and for all.
So they decide first person they want to bring in for questioning or interview
is Stacy's first husband, but they were having a hard time finding him.
And that's because he too was dead. And not only that,
they were buried right beside each other in the cemetery.
So Michael Wallace was the name of Stacy's first husband and he was also the
father to their two daughters, Ashley and Bree.
And there's a lot more to this story, but to keep this short,
apparently in December of 1999,
Stacy had told several of her friends that she wanted to leave her husband,
which by the way, he died in January of 2000.
His death was ruled as a heart attack,
but at the whole month leading up to his death, he was really sick,
like really sick to the point that he could not walk anymore.
Like he was having a hard time walking and talking and he just laid in bed all
day and would throw up.
The oldest daughter Ashley was 11 at the time and she recalls one day coming home
from school and she sees her dad like sit up on the couch.
He vomits all over the table,
laid back down and she thought he was just making weird faces.
But apparently that's when he had passed away.
So they rushed him to the emergency room.
They pronounced him dead when they got to the hospital and they just ruled it as
a heart attack.
Now Stacy apparently didn't want any kind of autopsy and she was happy with those
results. Like, yep, heart attack. That's what happened.
Stacy also received a $55,000 life insurance policy.
She got it like a month after she blew through that cash really fast.
So apparently with this new evidence of this first husband,
Michael appearing really sick before his death,
they take it to a judge and they ask permission to dig up his body because they
want to see if they can find any foul play.
The judge approves this and in September of 2007 they exhumed Michael Wallace's
body.
A few days later the medical examiner calls and he has some news.
When you drink antifreeze,
it stays in your organs forever and it forms little crystals.
So like all of your organs turn into little crystals or there's just crystals
everywhere.
But that's what the detectives were wondering because it sounded like he was
being poisoned, like slowly poisoned.
And that's what made him so sick and the fact they found crystals all over him
and now they have evidence that he was actually poisoned to death.
There's no way that two husbands would die the same way by antifreeze poisoning.
So they bring in Stacey for questioning and they have these pictures of the
shot glasses and one of the detectives is asking about the cranberry juice.
And so she goes on to say, well,
when I poured the antifreeze and then immediately caught herself and was like,
I mean cranberry juice.
And so the detective corrected her and said,
I think you just said when you poured antifreeze and she starts freaking out.
She's like, you're pinning this on me.
This was not me.
I need to go.
And she stopped the interview.
So she leaves and now she knows that they're onto her,
which is making her just frantic and freaking out.
She had no idea that they exhumed her husband's body.
She had no idea that they were even like looking into this.
So she was definitely caught off guard.
By this point, Ashley is like 18 or 19.
She just graduated high school and now she's in college.
And a few days later,
some detectives show up at Ashley's college and they tell her,
I just want to let you know that your dad actually died from antifreeze poisoning
and he didn't die of a heart attack.
I mean she immediately called her mom.
The mom was like, just come over and let's get drunk.
Ashley says her mother has never offered her alcohol ever in her life.
So she did think that was a little bit weird,
but she was also like grateful and thought my mom's cool.
So her mom gets her some alcohol when she gets home and Ashley says it tasted
really disgusting.
Like she's never tasted anything so bad in her life.
And she keeps drinking with her mom and the next thing she knows she's passed out
and she wakes up the next day.
She says what the worst hangover she's ever had.
I know what you're thinking because I was definitely thinking that too.
So Ashley wakes up the next day and her mom is like in her face and is like,
let's drink again.
And she gives her more alcohol and she says this time it was like way worse than
it was the day before.
So disgusting.
She's drinking it and she's like, mom, I can't like, this is too disgusting.
So her mom gives her a straw and says, here, just,
just stick it to the back of your throat and like, don't taste it.
Just, just chug it.
So she does.
And the next thing that happens is shocking.
Now I don't know how much time has passed,
but the sister Brie comes home and sees her unresponsive.
She yells to her mom to call 9-1-1.
So the mom's freaking out.
She calls 9-1-1 and is hysterical on the phone.
Looks like her daughter drank an entire bottle of vodka.
There's pills everywhere.
Beside Ashley, they find a note.
And so on the phone call, the mom's like, Oh my gosh, there's a note.
There's a note in the note.
It's a confession that Ashley was the one that murdered both her dad and her
stepdad.
So ambulance comes, they take Ashley.
They say it doesn't look good.
Like we don't think she's going to survive.
They cannot get her to stabilize and they're just,
the doctors are having a really hard time.
So it doesn't look good.
But by some miracle,
the next morning Ashley wakes up and the detective starts asking her all kinds
of questions.
He's asking what's this note about?
And she's just clueless.
She's like, what are you talking about?
I didn't write a note.
So the detective asks, what's the last thing you remember?
She said,
the last thing I remember is my mom forcing a drink down my throat with a
straw.
And then I have no idea.
Like I woke up here.
I have no idea what happened between my house and me being here at the
hospital.
Now here's where it gets crazy.
The detectives listened back in any time that they had an interview with her,
Stacey would call Anna freeze, Anna free.
Like she didn't put the Z on the end of the word and they thought that was
weird.
So whatever.
Coincidentally in the note left by Ashley,
she too called it Anna free.
Like when she typed it out,
she spelled it Anna free without the Z.
I mean the chances of two people calling it the wrong thing,
little suspicious.
So Stacey was arrested there at the hospital for the murders of both of her
husbands and the attempted murder of her own daughter.
Another critical piece of evidence was Stacey's phone had actually been wire
tapped since they started investigating her.
And they also had cameras like all over her house.
So they had a really close eye on her.
And again,
she had no idea while they removed her computer from her home and they found
multiple drafts of this note,
this confession note and the timing of this note.
This is so crazy that they found this.
They found a phone call of her on the phone with a friend and you can hear her
typing in the background and the timing of that phone call and the time that
this note was typed up on the computer were the exact same time.
So they were able to pin her to the crime at the exact timing because of the
computer and the phone call.
So there was a whole big trial with this case.
It took the jury four days to deliberate,
which is crazy.
And this was mother against daughter.
They were trying to pin this on Ashley still.
It was her,
she was 11 and she killed her dad and then she killed her stepdad.
But the jury did not buy it.
And Stacey was sentenced to 51 years in prison.
However,
I looked this up recently.
She,
she actually passed away from natural causes.
I don't know what those natural causes were.
Maybe it was antifreeze.
I don't know.
But that is the story I wanted to share today about this crazy,
crazy woman.
I'm not the best multitasker,
so I knew I wasn't going to get far with my apple slices.
But if you enjoyed this portion of this video,
I think it might be fun to do more of these stories,
not necessarily murder.
Like maybe I'll share a ghost story next.
I feel like I know a lot of ghost stories or something spooky.
Also go look up this story.
If you want to see the full story on 2020,
it's like an hour and a half long.
The details will blow your mind.
So I'm going to work on finishing up these slices and then we will get to
baking our apple pie.
So switching gears,
we are now going to finish this apple pie recipe.
Like I said earlier,
this is not necessarily like a step-by-step tutorial,
but I just thought it would be fun to include the rest of this pie making.
So I definitely recommend this recipe.
This was my favorite apple pie that I've ever had.
And Thomas agrees.
So definitely recommend this one and I will have it linked in the description
below.
So enjoy the rest of this video.
Nothing to be scared of.
I'd rather be with you than by myself.
Not always in your head.
When I went to the lemon grove
and heavy metals seemed to be
the only thing that was for me.
And I saw the angels coming down
and they sang a song and sang it loud.
And I still remember parts of it.
And the yellow glorious wood.
Won't you be my god save.
Always in our head.
