According to the traditional Christian calendar, Christmastide or Christtide lasts from December 25 until the Epiphany, January 6, when the visit of the Three Magi to Baby Jesus is traditionally celebrated. Through continued parties, get-togethers with friends and family, choice literary works, themed gift giving, and religious reflection, this season can carry the light of Christmas into the new year!
The Christmas season represents many things, the greatest of which is hope. Although Biblical scholars generally agree that Jesus Christ was not born in December, it’s fitting that the celebration of God come to earth as man would take place around the shortest day of the year. As the dark days of winter begin to grow longer after the Winter Equinox, we prepare our hearts for the hope of rebirth which we see for our country and world with the new year.
