KINGSTON – Mayor Steven Noble announced today (Thursday) that he will not be seeking re-election in 2027. He has held the city’s top job for 12 years.
But he said he will not run again “for many reasons, as a deeply contemplated decision arrived upon with my family.”
“The responsibility of the office is something that I have always taken very seriously and is not a job that you can turn off when you go on vacation, to the grocery store or out for a walk,” he wrote in a letter to the community. “I have done my best to balance those responsibilities while also being a dad, a husband, a son, a neighbor and a Kingston resident. I couldn’t have done this without an extremely supportive, patient and understanding family support system which has allowed me to do this job for going on 12 years as Mayor.”
Noble said he has “sought to lead with professionalism and a calm and composed demeanor, reflecting my deep respect and care for my hometown. So many folks have seen such positive change in our community and I am proud to have been part of that alongside my hard-working staff and colleagues.”
Despite his announced departure from city hall, he said “my heart will always be with Kingston.”
