NEW YORK – A Newburgh man has been arrested for trafficking cocaine across the Hudson Valley.

The State Attorney General’s Organized Crime Task Force and the State Police found that David Herring, III, 49, was transporting cocaine from Westchester County, through Rockland County to Orange County for likely redistribution.

Authorities seized over two kilograms of cocaine with an approximate street value of $60,000 from a hidden compartment in Herring’s car during a traffic stop in October 2025.

He was arrested and arraigned on Thursday in Rockland County Court.

“This investigation seized tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of cocaine and shut down a trafficking operation in the Hudson Valley,” said Attorney General Letitia James.

The three-count indictment unsealed on Thursday in Rockland County Court charges Herring with two felony counts of drug possession and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

The attorney general’s office and State Police special units were assisted by Town of New Windsor Police and Yonkers City Police.
