GOSHEN – A 63-year-old Monroe man pled guilty in Orange County Court to sexual conduct against a child and at sentencing next February, prosecutors will recommend that he be sentenced to 15 years in state prison followed by 10 years of post-release supervision.
As part of the sentencing, Bayani Ibanez will also be registered as a sex offender.
He admitted at the plea proceedings that between July 2006 and January 2009 he engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13.
The State Police Child Abuse Unit’s investigation led to the arrest.
“The only appropriate remedy for this defendant’s admitted conduct is a lengthy prison sentence,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. “Cases involving sexual assault of children are incredibly challenging for investigators and the just outcome secured in this case is a testament to the dedicated work of the police officers and prosecutors assigned to this case.”
Ibanez’s guilty plea was entered in county court on Monday, November 2, and announced on Thursday.
