TOWN OF WALLKILL – The Hudson Valley Building Trades Council has signed a project labor agreement with the developers of a large Walmart fulfillment center planned on a site in the northwestern area of the Town of Wallkill.
The company has owned the 20-acre parcel for years waiting for what it believes would be the appropriate time to build.
Building Trades Council President and business manager of Laborers Local 17 in New Windsor, Todd Diorio, said the PLA will translate into hundreds of construction jobs for area union workers.
“We signed a project labor agreement with them. That’s a big project with them. I think it’s over three million square feet and about $1.8 billion in construction,” he said.
The property is on the border with Sullivan County.
