WHITE PLAINS – Ballot reading machines in some areas of Westchester County are having problems scanning ballots, but county officials said residents can still vote today.

County Executive Ken Jenkins called the problem “unacceptable.”

He said voters should remain in line and exercise their right to vote. “Every eligible voter will have the opportunity to cast their ballot, and every vote must be county,” the county executive said. Jenkins said he has representatives from the law department monitorig polling sites to “ensure thta voters can cast their ballots without interference and that every vote is properly and accurately counted.”

He said once the issues are resolved, he will convene a bipartisan team to conduct “a thorough review of the decisions and failures that led to this debacle, determine where accountability lies and ensure this this never happens again.”

Jenkins said Westchesteer voters “deserve a fair, secure and seamless election process.  Today, we have hallen short of that standards. The voters deserve better, andf I intend to make suree they get it.”
