California — Jay-Z to Headline Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show in 2027

Jay-Z is set to perform at the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Reflecting on the upcoming performance, Jay-Z described the opportunity as a milestone in his career.

“From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”

The announcement follows a year of celebrations marking the rapper’s career under the banner “Jay-Z 30.” He began the anniversary events as a headliner at the Roots Picnic in late May before performing three sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium in July. The concerts commemorated the 25th and 30th anniversaries of his albums “The Blueprint” and “Reasonable Doubt,” respectively.

Jay-Z also performed internationally in Paris and London and participated in the eight-part docuseries “Jay-Z in 8” with Rick Rubin, discussing major hits and lesser-known tracks from his catalog.

This past weekend, he concluded his global run of tour dates at SoFi Stadium with two nights of performances featuring guest appearances by Scarface, DJ Khaled, John Legend, Blue Ivy Carter, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Too Short.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league had long hoped Jay-Z would eventually perform at the halftime show, following years of collaboration with the rapper and Roc Nation.

“For several years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, and I’ve seen the extraordinary impact he has had on the Super Bowl Halftime Show,” Goodell said in a statement. “When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him. I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage.”

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President of Music and International Content, also praised Jay-Z’s influence and expressed enthusiasm about his upcoming appearance.

“Jay-Z’s impact on global music culture is as profound as it is undeniable,” Schusser said. “We’ve had the privilege of working closely with him these last few years to bring some of the world’s most exciting and prolific artists to the Super Bowl Halftime Show stage and we are so thrilled that he will be taking that stage himself this year. We know it’s going to be an incredible show.”

The halftime performance will be broadcast on ESPN, ABC and Disney+, as well as on mobile devices through NFL+. ESPN Deportes and Disney+ will carry ESPN’s Spanish-language telecast, while Univision will offer a separate Spanish-language presentation. Roc Nation will executive produce the show, with Hamish Hamilton serving as director.

Earlier this year, Bad Bunny headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show with a performance celebrating his Puerto Rican roots and Latin American culture. The elaborate production featured a mock sugar-cane field and a Puerto Rican vecindad complete with a barber shop, liquor store and casita.

The performance included celebrity appearances by Jessica Alba, Karol G, Cardi B, Young Miko and Pedro Pascal, among others. Bad Bunny also brought out surprise guests Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin for salsa-inflected renditions of “Die With a Smile” and “lo que le pasó a Hawái,” respectively.

Fans affectionately called the event the Benito Bowl. It drew an average of 128.2 million viewers, surpassing the Super Bowl’s overall average audience of 124.9 million but falling short of the 133.5 million viewers who watched Kendrick Lamar’s 2025 performance. Before Lamar, Usher held the record for the most viewers following his 2024 appearance.

Last month, Bad Bunny won his first Emmy for his halftime performance in the outstanding special (live) category. The production earned seven awards in total, including honors for musical direction, choreography, sound mixing, lighting design, technical direction/camerawork and directing.

Creative director Harriet Cuddeford previously discussed the show’s themes, emphasizing its focus on community and everyday people.

“The performance is celebrating normal people, and what it is to be human and love and have joy, and really appreciate one another. This was to show how much he values his community, to celebrate normal people on the world’s biggest stage, especially people who are of importance in Latino culture. He’s a very authentic person, Benito, and it’s about just being authentic and very real and very human,” Cuddeford said.

Other recent Super Bowl Halftime Show performers have included Rihanna, the Weeknd and a group featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Lamar, 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak.
