TOWN OF ULSTER- Residents are invited to share their concerns, ideas, and priorities for the future of Albany and Ulster avenues as planning continues on a corridor management study aimed at improving traffic safety, mobility, and access throughout the area.

The Ulster County Transportation Council (UCTC), in partnership with the City of Kingston, the Town of Ulster, and the New York State Department of Transportation, will host a public workshop on Tuesday, October 20, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 5 Development Court in the Town of Ulster.  The meeting will take place in the Senior Hub room at the Office for the Aging.

UCTC staff and project consultants will present preliminary findings from traffic data collected over the summer and seek public feedback on transportation needs and potential improvements along the corridor.

Participants will have an opportunity to learn about the planning process, review existing conditions and take part in small-group discussions to help identify priorities for the area’s future.  Registration is not required for those attending in person.

Residents who wish to participate virtually can register online .

The Albany and Ulster Avenue Corridor Management Plan is intended to provide a comprehensive assessment of roadway conditions, identify safety and operational concerns, and develop recommendations to address current and future transportation needs.

The study area stretches from the roundabout in the City of Kingston to the intersection of Route 9W in the Town of Ulster, covering a corridor that serves motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and nearby businesses and neighborhoods.

Among the issues being examined are traffic safety, crash history, vehicle speeds, land use and roadway access.  The study will also explore opportunities to improve access to public transportation, create safer walking and biking routes, reduce travel times, and strengthen connections between the roadway and surrounding communities.
