Slater wants touchy-feely man deported following latest pair of arrests

YORKTOWN – Assemblyman Matt Slater on Friday called for the immediate deportation of a 24-year-old Brewster man, Diego Rodriguez-Ordonez, who was , including allegedly forcibly touching a woman on a Metro-North train. Prior to the train incident, Rodriguez-Ordonez was arrested earlier in the day for allegedly assaulting a clerk at a Lake Carmel service station.
Slater, who represents Putnam and northern Westchester, said: “These arrests reveal the flaws in New York’s system. This repeat offender was arrested twice within hours and has faced 16 arrests since 2024, resulting in eight criminal convictions—all following his 2018 deportation.”
Slater charged the arrest of Diego Rodriguez-Ordonez highlights the “exact problem with Albany’s failed sanctuary policies that protect criminals, create more victims and provide a safe haven for illegal immigration. There is no excuse for this individual to be terrorizing our community. He should be held to the fullest extent of the law, including deportation,” said Slater.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Metro-North Southeast station after a woman reported that a man had forcibly touched her aboard a train. The suspect fled before they arrived. Deputies later apprehended Rodriguez-Ordonez near the train yard after he allegedly resisted arrest. They deployed a Taser and took the Brewster man into custody.
Police said earlier in the day members of the Sheriff’s Department assisted Kent Police at the Sinclair gas station on Route 52 and Towners Road after Rodriguez-Ordonez allegedly assaulted a store clerk who attempted to stop him from stealing merchandise. Sheriff’s Deputies located Rodriguez-Ordonez hiding in a swampy area near the gas station and took him into custody. He was charged with robbery and assault. Kent Police also charged Rodriguez-Ordonez with felony criminal mischief in connection with a separate incident at a nearby bank.
