PUTNAM VALLEY – Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) was honored with the Helene Goebbels Award during the Putnam Valley Volunteer Ambulance Corps’ (PVVAC) 65th Anniversary Dinner. Slater joined Corps members, community leaders, and supporters in celebrating the organization’s 65 years of service to Putnam Valley.

The award honors Helene Goebbels, whose generosity played an important role in PVVAC’s history. Goebbels donated the land on which the Corps’ building stands today, providing a permanent home for generations of volunteers. The award is presented in her spirit to individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service and supporting others.

“For 65 years, the dedicated volunteers of the Putnam Valley Volunteer Ambulance Corps have answered the call and been there for our neighbors when they need them most,” said Slater. “I am honored and humbled to receive an award that carries such a meaningful legacy of generosity and community service. This recognition means a great deal to me, and I am incredibly grateful for the partnership we have built.”

Slater has worked alongside PVVAC to support the organization and ensure its volunteers have the resources necessary to continue serving the community. Most recently, Slater was instrumental in securing an $80,000 state grant to replace the Corps’ aging generator, helping ensure the organization can remain operational and respond when residents need emergency assistance.
