POUGHKEEPSIE – Poughkeepsie City Alderman Christopher Grant, 38, has been arraigned on a felony charge of attempted assault.
The indictment alleges that on the afternoon of August 2, 2025, Alderman Christopher Grant, who was 37 at the time, repeatedly struck a 69-year-old individual in the head in an attempt to cause injury.
District Attorney Anthony Psrisi said, “Violence in our community will not be minimized, excused, or treated differently because of who is accused.”
He said public position “does not confer special treatment, and it does not diminish our obligation to seek accountability for alleged criminal conduct. We will follow the evidence, protect the integrity of the process, and stand firmly with victims of violence while this case proceeds through the courts.”
Grant was released on his own recognizance by Judge Karen Edeelman-Reyes, who presided over the matter.
