The New York Jets finished with a 3-14 record last season. There are a lot of fans who wanted to see Glenn fired after just one season as the Jets head coach. New York decided to keep him for another season. It remains to be seen how the 2026 NFL season will play out. This franchise has not made the playoffs since the 2010-2011 NFL season.

The Jets drafted well in 2026. Quarterback Geno Smith will start, and rookie Cade Klubnik will be the backup quarterback. There is a chance that New York’s future quarterback is in the 2027 NFL Draft. If the Jets have another 3-14 record this season, there is no doubt that Glenn will be fired as head coach and they will look for a different head coach for the long-term.

Zack Rosenblatt of the Athletic covers the Jets. Glenn said on Monday,
“You get used to hearing so many opinions, so much outside noise that a lot of teams (those people) don’t really know what’s going on, on the inside. We’re doing everything we can to change the perception of how people see this organization, how people see the coaches, how people see this team. We’re going to continue to work at that, and I think from my perspective it’s: How do I improve as a coach? That’s been documented. How do we improve as a team, how do we get the right players and how do we go through training camp to make sure our guys are physically and emotionally ready for Week 1? I just want everyone outside this building to understand that, man, we’re working our ass off to make sure we do that. We never said it’s going to be easy.”
Nothing has come easy for New York over the last 14-15 years. The Jets have the longest playoff drought in the NFL. It would feel like a miracle for New York fans for this team to make the playoffs this season. This is one of the worst ran franchises in the NFL. If Glenn doesn’t show improvement this season, it will be interesting to see which assistant coach across the NFL will be the new head coach during the 2027 NFL season.
