MONTICELLO – Town and village officials in Sullivan County are calling for more open communication with county government.
Thompson Town Supervisor Scott Mace, also speaking for town officials in Fallsburg and Liberty, and village leaders in Monticello, Liberty and Woodridge, told county legislators they need to be involved in decision-making issues.
“Recent challenges include fiber optic installation, homeless shelter placement, as well as a waste to energy proposal,” he said. “We respectfully as that we work together to establish a stronger and more consistent line of communication between the county and our municipalities,” he said.
Legislature Chairwoman Nadia Rajsz agreed, suggesting monthly meetings.
“We need to have more communication as to working together. It’s what the towns want, it’s what the villages want and to make the county move in a better direction,” she said.
County Legislator Catherine Scott said there are supposed to be quarterly council of government meetings, something she suggested had not been taking place.
