NEW YORK- The gavel stays in the family as Judge Judy’s son, former Putnam County District Attorney Adam Levy, prepares to take over daytime court television.
The 57-year-old former Brewster resident who served two terms as Putnam’s chief prosecutor from 2008 through 2015, is launching his own series, “Adam’s Law” airing next month—programs produced by Judge Judy Sheindlin. The program arrives five years after Judge Judy ended in 2021, following a 25-season run that began in 1996.
Sheindlin, who formerly resided on Lake Oscawana in Putnam Valley, led her hit courtroom reality series where she presided over real small-claims cases. She is known for her quick wit and nonsense approach to handling her televised courtroom.
Following Judge Judy’s conclusion, Sheindlin created a spin-off series, Judy Justice, that acts as a continuation of Judge Judy, featuring real small-claims disputes adjudicated by Sheindlin with a new team, including her granddaughter, Sarah Rose Levy, as law clerk.
Adam Levy brings more than 25 years of legal experience to the bench. After earning his law degree from Hofstra Law School in 1992, Levy began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County prior to co-founding the law firm Levy & Santoro in Carmel and entering the political arena.
Judge Judy made it clear that she believes her son is ready for the new job commending his legal knowledge, memory and courtroom instincts, calling him an exceptional lawyer and expressing confidence that he can connect with the same audience that has followed her for decades.
