ALBANY – Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Monday that $6 million has been allocated for a new Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) for the Westchester Medical Center Health Network.

Of that amount, $5 million will be used for capital funding and $1 million will be used for start-up funding to establish the program.

The new program will serve Dutchess and Ulster counties and include one youth/adolescent and three adult extended observation beds.

“New Yorkers who are confronting a behavioral health crisis benefit from wider access to emergency programs tailored to their needs,” said the governor. “By expanding psychiatric emergency programs within hospitals, we are able to quickly and comprehensively support individuals in a timely and personalized manner.”
