CARMEL – Thousands gathered across the Hudson Valley on Tuesday to celebrate National Night Out, a campaign that strengthens relationships between law enforcement and local communities.

Putnam County hosted three celebrations, in Brewster, Kent, and Mahopac, each focused on strengthening police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

Brewster held its celebration at Wells Park, Kent hosted its event at the town Governmental Center, and Mahopac’s Airport Park welcomed residents from the greater Carmel area.

Brewster Police Chief John Del-Gardo welcomed guests to the village event as Mayor James Schoenig and members of the Brewster PD cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on a charcoal grill.

In Kent, officers with the Kent Police Department welcomed residents and their guests highlighted by a bubble brigade that turned the municipal campus into a winter wonderland on a warm summer’s evening.

Members of the Carmel Police Department under the command of Chief Anthony Hoffmann not only cooked dozens of burgers and hotdogs at Airport Park but also greeted attendees while displaying a variety of police vehicles and equipment used daily by the officers in blue.
