CATSKILLS – ‘Right to the Moon, Alice’ is a business gem in the Catskill Mountains. It’s a massive vintage clothing warehouse supplying film, TV, and theater nationwide. Founded by former actress Alice Lindholm and her husband Ron, it features thousands of authentic period garments spanning the 1950s through the 1990s.

Lindholm credits her late husband for bringing the business to life. “I would not have done it without him. I wouldn’t have been as brave. He’s made me braver. I try to honor that.”

She has men’s and women’s clothing in different sizes and styles, categorized in chronological order from formal to denim, from kids to adults. Hats. Gloves. Shoes. Belts and ties. It’s a dream come true for costume designers who fly in to get a first-hand view before ordering.

“We love the designers we work with. We just think they’re all kind to us and easy to get along with. You know, and they have a tough job.”

A word of caution. She isn’t open to the public.

“We don’t do Halloween. We don’t do costume parties. We don’t do any of that. We don’t. Because our replacement values are something people will not want to pay,” she said. “I feel bad when I have to turn people away when they wander to my door.”
