HUDSON VALLEY- The narrow and winding Taconic State Parkway as it traverses sections of Northern Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, and Columbia counties prohibits commercial traffic yet after reports received that trucks of all shapes and sizes were using the highway, State Police conducted a 48-hour Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Detail on the heavily traveled road and issued dozens of citations.
Troop K Public Information Officer Trooper Krystal Paolicelli reported Saturday patrols wrote 158 uniform traffic tickets, one hundred fourteen for the prohibition of commercial vehicles from operating on the parkway system; eleven others for vehicles with painted or displayed signs, names, or insignias and thirty-three tickets for speeding and other New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
Paolicelli urged the public to familiarize themselves with parkway regulations before traveling.
